Re: Don't look now... (Miss Lovely Eyes reviews)

Thanks for the reviews, and glad my silly 50s intentions came across and my simple guitar riffs worked and were enjoyed by some. I added the harmonies on the intro/chorus/outro riff on a whim at the very end of the process and was very happy with how they turned out. Night Sky - Night Sky and the Fo...

Re: The government bail out won't (Break the Bank reviews)

Everyday’s the same now From my soles to eyebrows... Is this in 11/4? Or... well, I'll not embarrass myself too much by explaining my other thing thoughts. *blush* At any rate, I liked it very much. I noticed an extra beat toward the end, but I'm listening very quickly and doing other things etc., ...

Re: Don't let the glasses fool you (Miss Lovely Eyes prefight)

... homages to the guitar stylings of Pigfarmer Jr and the Steve Miller Band. Have you lost your mind? Evidently. Edited to blame sleepysilverdoor, who in some thread that I’m too lazy to track down dubbed any simple ascending pentatonic riff “the Pigfarmer Jr” intro, or similar. So I kinda had to ...

Re: Don't let the glasses fool you (Miss Lovely Eyes prefight)

In with a short but very repetitive tune with janky vocals and simple, but earnest homages to the guitar stylings of Pigfarmer Jr and the Steve Miller Band. No saxes in this one, which makes two song fights in a row. I guess you need to come to SpinTunes for my saxes for the time being.

I’m bummed that I bailed on the listening party during the shadows and wasn’t there to laud All the Robots on I’ll Have What She’s Having. Truly inspired.

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 2 Challenge

My low point working on our song last week came when I realized that it was clocking in at 4:56. I cut it down to 3:51 by removing empty space (that I was going to fill with saxophones) from the chorus, and then put 12 seconds back in to make a little more space for... saxophones. But if I go down i...

Nancy by Gaslight - Night Sky Nancy is old and gray with a sly wrinkled smile I sit beside her - a doting grandchild And she said: It was me, my sisters and younger brothers Alone after the cops took our mother In a damp shack that gave us scant cover From rain and hunger and wandering men Not much...

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 2 Challenge

Now you tell me! Ours is kinda slow, and several seconds longer than yours, and not finished yet, so back to work for me! How do you know how long ours is?!?! We haven't submitted it yet! We listened to it today in the car and feel like it's kind of bleh. But then we had a long struggle with our ca...

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 2 Challenge

Welp, against all odds* we recorded a song. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but it's a slow, dreamy shoegazy number and I feel like slow songs sometimes don't do as well with judges. Or maybe that's just our particular kind of slow songs. We've gotten kicked over slow songs before  No...

Re: Don't break the Internet, (Break the Bank prefight)

Night Sky has been working on something in 11/4 with different subdivisions in different measures, and it's been a bit of a struggle. I'm going to keep working on it in the hopes that I can get it in late, but not too late.

Re: Pictures from when (I Was A Child Model reviews)

Thanks for the reviews! Night Sky - I already made some comments, but you should seriously make more music like this and add saxophone to it. The timbre of your voice works well in this setting and the only thing this is missing is more of that saxophone. I think I recommended in my “listened to the...

Night Sky is foolhardily in. Anyone know if confirmation emails should come automatically or if they involve human intervention? I signed up a few hours ago and remain unconfirmed.

Re: Can't post to review thread

Eventually succeeded with posting reviews. May have been a browser issue or a text encoding issue (I was copy-pasting from Mac Notes which I have done almost every other time I have ever posted reviews). Anyway, problem solved for now.

I completed my reviews for the first time in weeks, but either I'm hitting a word limit or something else wacky is going on... if this post goes through I'll try posting in more bite-sized pieces. Edit: I seem to be fighting with text encoding or something, grr. Happy to hear so many wind instrument...

Can't post to review thread

I'm getting an internal server error when I try to post to the current review thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12040. The error tells me to write to webmaster@songfight.net, but emails to that address bounce.

Re: Google it (I Was A Child Model prefight)

We've got lyrics, objects that loosely resemble riffs, DIY effects pedals, and reverb. Am I going to fit a saxophone in it somehow? Yes, yes I am.
