Re: Where there was smoke (There Was Lasers prefight)

Ah, I love this title. No idea what to do with it; but I love this title. That's all.

Re: Circle of Titles VI

I seem to have pointlessly deleted all my PMs between 2008 and 2016 but I'm fairly sure one of my titles was 'How not to be a woman' - there were two, the other - no idea. Probably not helping Herr ;)

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)

Maybe not the right place to post this; but here's a video-gram of a cover that I and the mighty K Anderson made. Marvel at the cheek! Marvel at how old, fat and grey I am. Just marvel at "Happy Days" done sad. (also my 'acting' - I missed a vocation)! 39iMZvJburw Please do like it, if you...

Re: Nur Ein XII

Don't know what this data signifies but I was killing some time by seeing who, of the five in Round 6, got the most 'top scores' from the judges across the competition. (I've always wondered if there some way previous wins could be incorporated in scoring for Round 6 - so that it's a bit more repree...

You did use 'a' twice, I'm afraid.

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Seven

Oh, I-Veg, did you not think this was quite deliberate? Why do you think judges chose the letter 'A' to be excluded round six, knowing what the round 7 challenge would be? Always one step ahead ;) Niveous will be the keeper of the scores for Round Seven, so when it comes to it, PM him or e-mail him ...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Six

Reviews missing one letter - '73KIB - the prettiness of the tune only just overcomes my dislike of country; but using free-reed instruments? Well, excuse me but nothing excuses this :) Short yet sweet. Nothing wrong here. Just not lingering in my memory. Glenn Close - I don't like 'writing on writin...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Six

... only problem - I mentioned it in the pub - and a pissed mate is now insisting on rephrasing every conversation so the letter "a" isn't used. He's an annoying prick. Tee hee! I'd use 'irksome prick', better to be in the spirit of the test. I will try writing my reviews without the lett...

Re: Listen Through The Static For Your (Cassini Reviews)

Well, I liked only one of the submissions. I'm not going to start telling everyone how great their submission is if I don't think it's great, and if I wrote about how great it is that people tried to do things, it wouldn't be a review. I'm trying to provide honest feedback here and I'm not objectiv...

Re: Listen Through The Static For Your (Cassini Reviews)

W.A.I.L. Metaluna – impressive metalling. The guitar tone is a bit clean / synthetic-sounding (not saying it is, just sounds that way). Like the spacey slow-down bit. Even more so when it proves not just to be a slow-down bridge but evolving into the song itself. The lack of words and a certain genr...

Re: Nur Ein XII Round Five

Yeah, sorry, bad choice of word. I was (now I think about it,wrongly) using it to mean 'sounding like it means something when it doesn't' - not quite the same as 'pretentious' but can't think of the right word right now...

Re: Nur Ein XII Round Five

All these are good. 73 Keep It beautiful - starts so well. I love me some motorik, and the moog keyboard is great. maybe it's the (albeit lovely) vocal melody or it's the lock of variance of themes within the repetition, I get a tiny bit bored. It lacks a little of the bite and joy I think of when I...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Four

Dear CR a) The word is 'caprice' not 'capriciousness. b) Its definition - "a sudden and unaccountable change of mood or behaviour" does not accurately describe the situation. There is nothing 'unaccountable' about a judge not liking a particular song as much as another; not that on e judge...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Four

Beginner :) Congrats CR - here's to the next 150. I also can'[t remember (Niv may be able to clarify) - XTRG's 'The Nicest Part of Town Is Also the Darkest' (sic) was a think a judge-band - Noah(?), Roymond, Niv, myself and one other who has completely gone from my recall. It may have been something...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Four

Oh.FTR, back then only two judges bothered to do it, Jack Shite and me. Everyone else had an 'excuse' (though to be fair, Niv's was pretty a fair one). Also FTR I won (though all evidental proof of that disappeared along with Dumbrella boards. *ahem*). A version of it became 'Jah Humbug!' on the Joh...
