Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

Again, I think, sure, make orders about how stuff within the executive branch is going to work. That's like, a managerial thing, makes sense for head of the executive branch to do that. But stuff that's saying what's allowed/disallowed at large ... it seems like something we don't need. And it seems...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order I guess if their scope was purely limited to declaring how the executive would operate within its own bureaucracy and within the law as determined by Congress, that seems less undemocratic, but, they seem to be much broader scope than that in modern hist...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

Constitutional Mike, what are your thoughts on executive orders? I am wondering lately, why the hell do they exist and how does that make any sense? It seems akin to the president being able to make laws sort of, unilaterally, which seems very much not within the domain of the executive branch. And ...

Not in... I've got no power for the past 3 days... just in case any of y'all IRCBFFs wondered where I was... as chat.mibbit.com seems to be down too. I'm from CT and my brother still lives in the house we grew up in there in West Hartford. He said the state seems to be a big mess from what he can s...

Re: Free Plug ins

I saw that when I used their symphony plugin for Nur Ein. I downloaded a few LABS instruments but so far have only used their Drums instrument, which I think sounds awesome (limited number of pieces in the kit though but for me that's not a problem). I used it right away for the next two Moss Palace...

Re: General Updates

I think historically the most common scenario was that sidefight songs were self hosted by the folks how made them, and yes, that did frequently lead to links that got old and broke over the years. The Hxaro and covers archive was the handiwork of King Arthur starting circa late 2007/early 2008, in ...

Re: Open vs closed back headphones survey

I wound up ordering the BeyerDynamics DT990 Pro, and should have them Thursday. Hooray! I know it's not exactly what some folks strongly suggested I get, but, the reviews and the other testimonials and the price point seemed good. Then I read this interview on Tape Op with a King Britt, who I had no...

I'm a fan of both of those too! It seems like most times when I Google some mixing/production question or topic one or both of those channels have informative videos on it.

That sucks about the boobs drawing idiot though. Ugh. :(

Re: mixing tips

Politics aside, some folks at Sweetwater keep making great informative posts, like this one which is a very comprehensive list of tips for "pro sounding" vocals, from performing to mixing etc. Lots of good stuff in here IMO:

On the other hand, the multiple titles were a reaction to the individual title fights getting really huge, I thought?

Whoa. Somehow I'd never thought to look at the totals by year before. My memories don't deceive me, 2004-2006 really were the "golden years" of Song Fight.

Re: My Life

I used to bike to work four times a week. It was a bit over 7km each way. Now, not so much. I went 2-3 months without touching my bike before I finally started making a tiny effort to ride. One of my brothers lives in NYC and has been working a lot and has been stuck in his apartment too much so we'...
