Re: Thanksgiving (US) 2020

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm grateful for Song Fight too, and to you JB for keeping the lights on and everything else, and Spud and fluffy for all they do and have done as well, and of course the great community of people past, present, and future. I'm grateful to be able to see my family today, even if ...

Re: Compouter monitor you use with your DAW

Huh, OK. I'll try tweaking the settings. If that fixes it I can keep it as an external monitor for work.

Compouter monitor you use with your DAW

I'm curious what size/resolution/kind of monitor folks use for mixing in their DAWs. I've had a Samsung 24" 1920x1200 monitor/TV that I bought refurbished in 2009. I just set it up in our new place and since the ambient noise where I live now is so low I can hear that it's making a high pitched sque...

Re: Who's that?! (Disembodied Voice prefight)

Re: the optional challenge, I heard this song and thought about how few lyrics it had. I find it impressive when songs are like that but still really enjoyable. Not that I need a raft of lyrics for me to like a song, but, I think it takes skill to use few lyrics and still have a song be engaging the...

Re: Aarararrrargh! (Screaming Into the Void reviews)

Oh right. The very last step in the process, which since it's the last step I sometimes forget, is to clear out the old votes and make room for the new ones. Should be fixed now.

Re: Aren't we all just (Screaming Into The Void prefight)

Site update's been delayed by us moving. We're now in Oregon in our new house! So maybe tonight if I'm not too exhausted I'll get things updated. What are you doing there? Breedlove Guitars is based there 👀 That's cool! Somehow I hadn't realized they were based in Bend. Maybe after the pandemic I c...

Re: Aren't we all just (Screaming Into The Void prefight)

Thanks! We decided to tap out of the SF Bay Area for a variety of practical and financial reasons, but it was a very tough decision and we will miss our friends there very dearly. But now instead of a 2bd/1bth attic apartment we're in a 4br/2.5bth house and we're near my sister and parents. I'm hopi...

Re: And now you see (How It Comes Apart reviews)

I don't have time to write reviews, but my favorites are: add, Balls to Monte, Future Boy, Glenn Case, Ken, and Robyn Mackenzie, but I enjoyed a lot of the other songs too. I guess I inadvertently fulfilled the optional challenge in the BSS song. I'm playing a Rhodes patch on my Reface CP but I made...

Re: A long four years

Ah, yeah. White guys have always had the most rights of anybody in this country. So when one of us complains "my rights are threatened!" it's hard for me to understand. Who is targeting white guys' rights? "Everyone's rights!" though, like in case of the Patriot Act infringing everyone's right to pr...

Re: A long four years

Sorry if I inadvertently sounded like I was saying "all Republicans" or "all conservative people" etc. I meant to be making points about the GOP as a party (not the GOP voters) and its leadership specifically. (Even that I know is not all 100% the same but they are largely unified in their positions...

Re: A long four years

The fact that he's arguing as a white man is a non-argument, and to discredit an argument entirely on that is to make an argument in bad faith. Who is saying these things is not the point. Those terms are very traumatic to people and tossing them around casually in a disrespectful way could be cons...

Re: A long four years

Staying way out of this conversation except to request people don’t use “rape” as a metaphor please. It's not a metaphor. It's an example. Sorry, I guess I could have used lynching as another example. Although, it's less universal. Rape and lynching are very real, very traumatic things. Please read...

Re: A long four years

In either case, I'd like to have my state equally represented at some point in the political process. And why do you want your state equally represented? It means that you personally will be over represented, so I get how that's appealing, but, I don't get how that's fair. Is it worth losing any re...
