Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three

This may be way too late a comment to matter, but the fact is I recorded my part with a fan blowing because I was lazy and didn't want to turn it off. The quality of the microphone was actually quite good, seeing as it's a Blue product, but meh, I take the complete blame for the lack of sound quali...

Re: The lustre passes muster (Jewel of India reviews)

LML - I was able to crank this enough to appreciate it. As a solo-performer act, it might need something richer on the guitar, but as a song it carries a fine tension and interest. The singing also is very good, with a gritty urgency. If I have a quibble, it would be as an accent snob: the pronunci...

Re: The lustre passes muster (Jewel of India reviews)

I'm glad you liked what you heard; I could hear my song on my laptop headphones when I turned the volume midway on itunes, I guess I just totally overlooked that quietness. I got instructions on how to adjust it right though, so next time I won't have those problems. I swear, added with the fact tha...

Re: The lustre passes muster (Jewel of India reviews)

I didn't play with a click track actually. No excuses, but it was a one shot done at around 3 in the morning. So obviously, laziness had it's way with me. I could re record it later with a click track and put separate tracks. Like I said, I was having problems with logic at the time, but just pm me ...

Re: The lustre passes muster (Jewel of India reviews)

Yeah I had problems with it being WAY too loud and maxing out my speakers when I bounced it from Logic. It was my first time messing with Logic, so I wasn't too familiar with getting the sound right. I have headphones and crappy lap top speakers so I wasn't too sure just how loud it was going to be,...

Re: Jewel of India (prefight)

It never actually occurred to me to use sitars in my song. I mean, mixed with my music, any kind of artificial sitar is gonna sound like total cheese. If any of you manage to pull it off without making me cringe, I will vote for sure.

I may do this. Seeing as after last weeks entry it's pretty much impossible to look like an ass anymore.

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

The microphone isn't the issue, I actually forgot to take off all the effects before I sent you the mp3 of the vocals. It's a very nice blue compression microphone. Mind you I don't have a studio so vocals are gonna be sub par by nature. All in all I've learned never to come onto a forum when you're...

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

I've always liked to stick to basic music arrangements, but I realize that simplicity doesn't really work with electronic music. I'm learning though, and I think with more practice I'll be able to come up with something more musically complex. Despite what my songs on songfight! would suggest, most ...

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

I appreciate your apology, as I'm sorry I let myself get so irritable. This week has been a rough one for me, and I suppose I just took out my anger on people who didn't deserve it, which is not something I usually do. I do appreciate the critiques, and I learn from them, I just let myself get swept...

I can't even dignify this attack with a response. I was in a bad mood, and apparently I'm not allowed to rant. So I'm just not going to say anything at all.

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

Dear Mr. Fortunes favorite, The phrase "keep your promises" is in second person. Notice how it says "your"? That's a word referring to someone who is directly being mentioned in the song. Now, I know you must be saying "Keep it in third person! you don't need to mention the ...

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

Oh my gosh, I'm going to regret this. I'm not gonna bite your head off. I guess I have won a fight once, when I did a collab, and nobody came to my house and gave me a check for 10 grand, I guess it's that competitive streak in me that wants to win win win! Also, this thread isn't REALLY a lifetime...

I posted my review of the round on my blog just a few minutes ago. There's a couple items before the review, so just scroll down a little & you'll see it. Good work with this latest round. If anyone makes a video for their song, I'm more then happy to include it. http://spintown79.blogspot.com/...

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

It's not any particular thing someone has said, I've been doing songfight since 2006, and I only have a gaggle of songs that I've actually done. I think it's more frustration that I can't smooth out the rough edges because there is something always wrong about every song. Believe me, I'm my own wors...

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

Well I understand there is no point to trying to please everyone, I'm just torn over what it is that anybody actually likes about my music in the first place. I do something with a more aggressive style a la It Belongs To Me, and it doesn't have enough bass, and it's too trebly and I sound like a 12...

Re: Ready the polygraph! (Keep All Your Promises reviews)

Oh yes, because a 21 year old is going to make a dance song from the 70's. Totally plausible. I'm trying to make a dance song from this decade. Lady Gaga is classified as dance/pop. If you've ever been to a music store, that's where it would be. I'm not talking about music you dance to . I'm not stu...
