Re: Mediocre Savior

i'm afraid that my vocals ended up a bit hard to decipher for this fight, so here are the lyrics in case anyone is curious: ----------------------------------------------------------- i met you in the park one day your long hair blowing in the breeze your clothes they all looked handmade your beard ...

Re: "Tookie had Tourette's, yo." (Cryptic Comment Reviews)

Aardwolves - Super sweet and just about the perfect length. Since it's solely voice and acoustic guitar, I do think that there should be a little bit more variation in one of the two as it becomes monotonous towards the end. I don't think that either need to be much different melodically, but just ...

Re: "Tookie had Tourette's, yo." (Cryptic Comment Reviews)

Edit: I'm sorry but I'm taking some of my reviews down. Ultimately, I applaud anyone who makes an effort here, but my reviews don't always come out that way and I wouldn't want to be guilty of discouraging someone from entering, so I'm only going to leave my reviews that are constructive. If I don'...

LoO -

*sshhhhhhh*

Just use your imagination. Listen to the original 'Tusk', Animal Collective's 'Leaf House', and Yeasayers' 2080 in rapid succession and you'll have it.

(Apparently without copious amounts of alcohol and my girlfriend involved the covers don't seem to happen.)

In any case, if my name up there ISN'T an error... I voted for yours first and the BeWells for honorable mention. I went through everyone's songs many many times to be sure that the deserving parties got my vote. I felt like your cover was the most emotionally evocative, as well as being a unique t...

Yes, yes. I haven't been here for long but I don't disagree with anything you've got to say. I can't see any way that multiple titles and smaller individual fights would be detrimental, other than it being more work for the administrators. You aren't 'rambling' in the least and you make some very va...

So, to state the obvious, just by eyeballing this, it appears that there were more songs on average when there were multiple titles. sdurand: I don't know whose eyes you're using but the average songs per fight is CLEARLY lower during the multiple-fight weeks. I think that Steve was actually referr...

nothing personal, but you're putting way to much emphasis on winning and not enough on all the other good things that happen when you submit a song (exposure to alot of people, reviews even...). Actually, for me it honestly is about the journey and not the destination. I think that this is a fantas...

Fair Fights

I've only been around on SongFight! for the past 8 fights or so, but in that time I've already seen two fights won by artists who very blatently did not deserve it (beyond just a matter of my personal opinion.) The first was <A HREF="http://www.songfight.org/songpage.php?key=history_of_my_broke...

I'm glad that you took it well! I definitely considered it a very very rough approximation of your sound (meaning that it fell under a very broad 'electronic' umbrella and I didn't have very much time to spend on it, unfortunately.) Don't take it as any sort of indicator as to how others perceive yo...

Speaking of lyricburgling (a practice I've been meaning to take up), as the resident Melvin expert (fanboy?), I think I can pretty safely say that it's not him behind the Bizarro Eric MC, Mages, and probably Mockpuppet, despite the prevalent M's. If I had to guess, I'd say Senza Valore is the perpe...

There is such a system....it's called bribery. :D Name your price. I do realize that in your graciousness, Niveous, you would probably be responsive to anyone making requests of a specific list. However, it seems great that you would take this organizing on at all and I certainly wouldn't want to b...

There are lots of artists' lists here that I would love to receive, but also a few that I would honestly be less enthusiastic about. Of course, I will give my all to whatever I end up with but it does seem like both gifters and giftees would be better served by people getting lists that they would b...

I would love to be in on this as well. Though it's tempting to just throw up four Andrew Lloyd Webber tracks or all underground hip-hop (I'd be interested to see how some sample-heavy songs would be covered), etc. I think I'll be boring and keep it a bit more standard. I can't wait to see what sort ...

In Rainbows (Radiohead's 7th album)

'Holy fucking shit' pretty much sums it up for me. Today, Radiohead announced two ways that you can pre-order their new album. The first way is to purchase the 'disc box' which includes the new album on vinyl, two CDs, and a digital download, which will ship to you on December 3rd (I believe.) Okay ...

Bill -
I only know the tiniest bit of Italian (which is to say, essentially none.) I tend to do a lot of genre-hopping so I wanted a moniker that on the surface didn't immediately define me. Then, of course, the translation is how I really tend to feel about my music.

Senza Valore - This is a good song, but I think you kind of threw away the vocal melody. When you say that it seemed thrown away, do you think that the melody was decent but the singing wasn't passionate enough, or that the melody wasn't strong enough to start with? I'm here to improve my songwriti...

Hey, all.. This was my first fight and I've loved the reviews coming from everyone. I generally have a very hard time getting blatently honest critique from my peers, so stumbling across Song Fight! was amazing. I haven't had a ton of time to listen to everyone else's tracks but I figured that, for ...
