Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Zero

I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to be America's Next Top Model. These reviews are in mixed up order. You'll never know how I voted. 73 Keep it Beautiful - Great pop track by one of the masters. I feel it's a little cliche, but you added in some unique elements here and there - some chord cho...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round One

Speaking as a judge, I will be more than ecstatic to hear a tasteful instrumental or vocal counter-melody used to accentuate your song. :)

Re: Recommendation for 'pretty' noise isolating headphones?

True - I'm still a little skeptical of bt quality. I was thinking vocal recording, cuz that's when I move around the most and cause cables to get tangled every which way. I nudge my vox around so much that a tiny delay wouldn't impact anything. For everything else I'd use open-ear headphones or moni...

Re: Recommendation for 'pretty' noise isolating headphones?

I found some tutorials that show opening up the ear, removing something that stops normal connectors, and then getting a 2.5->3.5mm connector. So, a little D-I-Y but not prohibitively so. With the right bluetooth receiver, these headphones might be the best option for high quality bluetooth audio.

Re: Recommendation for 'pretty' noise isolating headphones?

Cool! Just checking because the picture on Amazon looks like the ends of the cord might be different sizes. I've had a lot of success using bluetooth receivers in my car (lol old technology - it's like the modern equivalent of cassette-CD conversion). Seems like maybe my studio needs to be upgraded ...

Re: Recommendation for 'pretty' noise isolating headphones?

Is that input jack 1/8"? Could I put a bluetooth receiver dongle on it and never deal with cords again?

Probly not. I think you're hallucinating colors on those black headphones. ;)

Joking aside - I kind of want to keep the white ATH-M50x for myself and buy flowers instead. Those things are sexxy.

Re: Recommendation for 'pretty' noise isolating headphones?

Thanks fluffy! I checked out the specs and decided to go with them.

It's funny - despite the whole rise in Beats popularity, it doesn't seem like studio-quality headphones come in any varieties other than black.

Recommendation for 'pretty' noise isolating headphones?

My wife's birthday is coming up. She likes the Sennheiser 280 pro (which I think a lot of people around here have used) but she wants something... with color.

Any recs for something in that price range with similar noise blocking ability and sound quality?

Re: Acoustic Treatment

I saw something on reddit a while back where a guy used painting canvasses with foam behind them to make some nifty, customized panels. DO NOT DO THIS. CANVAS WITH PAINT DOES NOT ABSORB SOUND. It looks neat though.

I'll have to listen to this when I move and have to recreate my glorious studio.

Re: Nur Ein XI- Round One

You can see the individual scores. The site's just not optimized for viewing them all at once at the moment. Under the playlist link is a "sort by..." drop-down that will let you pick a particular judge # (no correlation to who the actual judge is). When you sort by that judge, it shows th...

Neat! Thanks, jb. I know I said just one button :), but it may also be useful to (when you have time): 1. if necessary, update any phpBB configuration or links that reference http 2. make a root .htaccess like this to redirect http to https (i have this verbatim): RewriteEngine on # Check for POST S...

IIRC, the forum is hosted on DreamHost. DreamHost has a single button you can click to automatically register with Let's Encrypt - a free certificate authority. Since we are sending our passwords in plaintext to the forum, it would be kind of nice, I suppose, if we could leverage this free and easy ...

I don't know what Takamine is. Last time I went pricey acoustic shopping, I picked Taylor (as a gift) over Martin.

NEW: import the calendar events if you are a calendar person like me.
