Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

I don't know about your UK-wannabe mamma's boy constitution, The UK doesn't have a Constitution. So, yes - you obviously don't know but our Constitution is perfect the way it's written. Yes. Obviously. That is why the USA is winning so bigginly. The first step would be to sort our your backward ele...

Look at the bright side: You might be eliminated this round anyway, and then you won't need to write a song!
Here’s hoping!!

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

Clear as mud, right? LOL. I'm with AJ and Crumpart. You did a great job explaining Grumpy - better than I have read before - but yeah I still don't get it - it is still clear as mud. It is like you are trying to run a modern nation with a 250 year old constitution! The Australian Constitution is 12...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Two "Chupacabra"

My understanding is you can’t have multiple tracks of the same instrument. At least not sounding simultaneously. The examples they have have one track of each instrument, not layered tracks of each instrument. We're not saying you can't - it all falls into the risk / reward stuff outlined by Glenn ...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Two "Chupacabra"

If you want to make your guitar sound like a bass then go for it, but don't be surprised if some / all of the judges object to it when putting their rankings together. Is that as a challenge violation? or for playing lawyer ball? or because it might not sound good? Yes. Screw "The Man" Glennny. You...

it is with a heavy heart that i must report that I have had to visit my local a&e department, and now have my arm in a sling, following an extremely cool skateboarding accident. apologies for not being able to get one in for this round, it was going to be an absolute banger, but it means that there...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Two "Chupacabra"

This is a cool challenge because it has me creating something quite unlike my usual tracks. This makes me happy to read! Can't speak for all the judges, but this is precisely the kind of outcome I was hoping for. Something that takes you a little outside your comfort zone, and forces you to conside...

US Federal employee/public servant here: minor correction. Political appointees can be sacked for arbitrary reasons. Lower level hires are extremely difficult to fire unless they flagrantly break the law. Oh good! This stuff is really confusing me. (me- currently a local government public servant -...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

"Why does more direct democracy cause such bad things in the USA? It works pretty well everywhere else." Well, we don't have a unified national identity or culture like other nations. The only thing we all can agree on is "don't tell me what to do". For perspective: the constitution's original amen...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

I'm going to try to avoid starting a gun debate. No - that wasn't my intention. There is no debate. That is sort of the point. That the USA has a "gun debate" - is part of that malaise I am pointing to here. There is no "gun debate". There is a sad country that allows its citizens to be killed why ...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

I know Australia had an amazing gun buyback thing - to get that to work here, you'd need 1) everyone to agree to trust the government (lol), 2) serious border security , 3) significant increase and cooperation in enforcement at all levels of government. Any territory that cannot eliminate guns comp...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

I love American people..but why are you allowing the powers of the judiciary and legislature be diminished??1? To answer your question: The founders envisioned an agrarian confederation of states ruled by a plutocratic republic. We have patched it to be a national direct democracy. And now we don't...

Maybe you write about the chupacabra taking a vacation to visit his bunyip cousin down under.
As i understand it - a chupacabra is a canid. A bunyip is an an aquatic carnivore. Not cousins. Even in the crypto world.
