Re: Copyright musings
There are many hip-hops albums from prior to those lawsuit that could not be made today, due to the costs to license all the samples involved being prohibitive, like. The Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique" is an example of one that I've listened to a ton. So, I 100% agree with the first sente...

Re: Kennebec Manifesto
It's that time again — another Kennebec Manifesto six-pack: Strong Coffee.
This one includes one songfight (I Only Dub Once a Week) and three that were inspired by Song Fight but took months to finish: Strong Coffee, Mixed Messages and Natural Stupidity.
Plus two others. Check it out, yo.

Re: Surely you can't be serious?!?! (Autopilot reviews)
Good gawd the Pulpo Jamon song is good. There's something about the delivery of the autopilot line that doesn't quite work for me — the delivery? the tone? not sure. But that's my only beef. Solid song.

Kennebec Manifesto
We put six Kennebec Manifesto songs up on our Half-a-Dozen Records site: https://halfadozenrecords.bandcamp.com/album/we-should-explode A bit of ska, a bit of reggae and a bit of dub — plus a whole lot of complaining about high food prices. (I assume that sentiment extends beyond Canada?). A couple ...

New Grill Shots album
Rob and I are proud to release Grill Shots' Hot off the Grill — 11 old school hip hop songs about barbecuing. All the hits are here — My Sauce, Marynade, Who's Got Beef? and more — including two that debuted on Song Fight YEARS ago. On Bandcamp as well as Spotify, Apple Music and others. We hope it ...

Re: I can't find my (Vanishing Twin reviews)
Look at me! I wrote reviews. Everybody gets a ‘dig’ and everyone gets a ‘but’. Not everyone gets a vote. King Arthur Dig: reggae is not something I expected from you. The organ’s nice and your lyrics are always good But: some of the instruments are really obviously not real, and that detracts from i...

Vanishing Twin, by shrts You say we’re coming from the same place, cut from the same cloth, swimming in the same broth. You think you’re something because you’re better than me, just because you’re better me. What makes you think that I would stick around? You always bring me down. Yeah, you’re clow...

Re: Why is everyone giving me so much static (Lightning Rod reviews)
I really thought this was the week I was going to complete reviews — but no. I do have this, though: Panacotta Army: Really nice clean sound on this. One of the best SF entries I’ve heard in years. Because I’m digging it, I’m going to get picky — the second verse is a little too on the nose for me. ...

Seems to be an error in the song listing:
thehipcola is Hip Cola's song, but he's also listed as The Hip Cola, which is actually TV's Kyle's song.

Abuse of Power, shrts (with gang vocals and lyric help from my 18-year-old's rant after the dentist) I’m at a loss why you tell me to floss; I’m not going to floss. It ain’t no joke how you prod and you poke. I bleed and I’m broke Dental hygienist, you’re such a menace with your abuse of power. Y...

Re: Goodbye Blue Lang
Ah, very sad. So sorry to hear, and nice to hear reminiscences from people who knew him in person. Blue was certainly a significant presence when I joined SongFight in 2005. Mostly, he trashed my songs in his very blunt Blue way, but said he liked my singing in Gert's Bad Cat and that confused me (h...

Re: Try and at least give us (Three Quarters reviews)
A lot of quirky shit here, kids, a lot of singing just out people’s ranges (yea, I’m one to talk) and a lot of heavy guitars. Amby Moho Your vocals could come up a bit, I think. This all interesting and quirky and all that; I think I need to hear it the context of a full album to see where it fits i...

Re: The stairway to heaven leads to (A Long Plastic Hallway reviews)
Lush AF - How many bandnames have you submitted under, Mike? This one is particularly groovy and has a great lyrical flow. I don't know — a lot. But there's a reason Rob and I keep changing the name. We plan out a sound, write six songs and then package 'em up as a distinct six pack over at Half-A-...
