Re: Rumor Has It That You've Lost This Fight (reviews)
Just checking in to say HATE noise is a great song and deserves to win. The beats are great, the rapper is great. I'm not a fan of shit talking but the track and flow more than make up for it.

Re: And when will you do reviews??? (When Did You Know reviews)
@Masterhyde: I think in some cases you should pay closer attention to the lyrics of the songs. Of course I'm a little biased about my own song (The Social Commentaries) but in your review of PiGPEN you clearly didn't catch the concept of the song. "When did you know... you were a bear?" is...

Re: And when will you do reviews??? (When Did You Know reviews)
The Social Commentaries - Nice drumming. The horns feel a little rough, but whatever. Interesting "harmonies" on the rap. "Let's have a motherfucking baby" is one of the scarier Songfight lines I've heard in a while. This is another one of those songs that feels like it's obscen...

Re: And when will you do reviews??? (When Did You Know reviews)
So, the Social Commentaries track was done by me, Greg. I'm going to post reviews, then possibly reply to some comments later. My reviews are as the songs were presented to me: FEAT Nice laid back backing track. Vocal delivery isn't exactly my thing. I like the chorus. I know the concept kind of req...

The Social Commentaries - When Did You Know I went to the club cause I've got a compass inside And a girl came in with a body god made These eyes were made to watch assets vibrate I thought I heard a clock chime She came up certain things were implied She had a cherry in her mouth, tying knots and s...

Re: Juliet never liked her hair (The Middle Part reviews)
Ok I'm back from forever absence. Here are some rough and tumble comments, songs in the order they were presented to me. A comment: I'm filtering less today. Hopefully I'm still being constructive. Also I talk about vocals a lot because that's a deciding factor in whether or not I like a lot of musi...

Re: The Middle Part
Remember the rooms where you all would sing The walks in leaves or evening when it's raining The aimless car and the passenger seat The places to go that you hadn't been Look at the glow in the evening at home The bad news that came but you can't afford to go The things you would change if you had k...

A Problem of Perspective or: John Cusack's Song Standing alone in the dark in the woods You said I could've kissed you but I didn't know I could Standing in the water in the shower next to mine I can hear you calling to someone walking by You're so pure that we can't talk together now So I'm pretty...

Re: Everybody's Got Something to Hide (Client No. 9 Reviews)
I keep on mentioning that vocals are out of tune, so I wanted to say that I'm sympathetic to everyone who can make an excellent song but finds vocals difficult. I know that improving singing can be much harder than improving playing. I just bring it up because for me, bad vocals are the easiest way ...

Re: Prefight Thread Switcheroo
If I wrote a song that I called "Switch", but pretended that I was calling the song "Switcheroo", then I was inspired by the title "Switch", I wasn't inspired by the title "Switcheroo". Other titles my song called "Switch" would not have been inspir...

Re: Everybody's Got Something to Hide (Client No. 9 Reviews)
Aah, I'm sorry. Eliot Spitzer was referred to as "Client No. 9" in government papers that were released a few days before the title was posted on SF. They alleged that he paid several thousand dollars for a high end prostitute, and besides that had been shuffling money transfers to try to ...

Re: Everybody's Got Something to Hide (Client No. 9 Reviews)
Thanks for the reviews, everyone who did them. I'm going to post mine eventually. The Capitalist Youth - I love the hand-clapping with the accordion. Very cool. The kitchen jam vibe is very, very cool. I'm not sure of the connection with the title. I've read over the lyrics many times and have not b...

Re: Prefight Thread Switcheroo
I don't think anyone is arguing that it's impossible to write a song based on a certain title. It's just some titles are more preferable than others.

Re: Prefight Thread Switcheroo
I agree with Frankie and Jim that some of the titles have been more difficult to write for. Personally I look at song fight as a set of limitations that help me to be creative. Without a deadline and a general direction to write in, I wasn't writing a song every couple weeks. But with something like...

I know what I ought to do, but I don't. I know what I want to do, but I don't. First you're campaigning against immorality, Then you're paying for women regularly. Produce a person with the best to learn how whatever goes in, You can't predict what will come out. Waves align just right inside of you...

Not a very good fight this week. Probably in part due to the title. I thought it was a pretty cool title. The image made me wonder: well what about that tongue? whose is it? why is it purple? Which can go all ways (as the fight shows). For e.g. 'Radio Ready' the theme seemed more restricted. I gues...

Seagulls On Sidewalk: 4/5 Really nice production. (although personally I don't like the vocal sound) Musically I think the song is good. I don't like the low voice parts that are inserted halfway through. I can't really get behind the pepto-bismol subject matter. It doesn't seem funny enough to be ...

capitalist I assume we’re talking about an akita here. I tried to listen past the mix, (which is pretty terrible). The song overall got a bit monotonous and if this is about a dog - it doesn’t quite work for me as the allegory it is supposed to work as. Quite repetitive, melodically, and not enough...

Caravan Ray – The fake accent and the fact that Philadelphia is not a coastal city (to be able to easily sail to) were both factors that worked against my enjoyment of the song. Living somewhat near Philadelphia, I couldn't let this slide. Look up the Port of Philadelphia. (Apparently we can't link...
