i am recording videos of me playing acoustic songs using a webcam and windows movie maker. i'm trying to avoid using my webcam mic, and instead i'm trying to use an sm57 through my alesis multimix interface to record audio. problem: the multimix has 8 tracks. the first two tracks are treated as the ...

crackling
i'm using an alesis multimix8 firewire with a brand new desktop (quadcore 2.9ghz, 4gb ram) and cakewalk sonar 8. i am getting a crackling noise on playback. i guess this noise has something to do with the buffer settings.... so i set the buffer all the way to the slowest (347.8 msec) and noticed an ...

Re: connecting firewire without restart?

latency problem
Hey all. I'm using an Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire with a Macbook (Tiger, 2 GB RAM) and Cubase LE. I have a huge latency problem. I've tried changing the buffer size but nothing seems to improve. Any tried and true tricks (either w/ Cubase or something specific to the Mac OS X Audio Midi Setup app) th...

importing audio into cubase
i'm using cubase LE and i'm trying to import a .wav file (drum track from FL Studio) into my project. it all seems to work fine, and i can see the track and everything, but when i play it, i don't hear anything (and i don't see a signal on the mixer either). any idea why this might be happening? tha...

thanks a lot man yeah i guess i assumed that the 404's output were s/pdif just cuz it looked vaguely similar. but besides that mistake, i think i figured out how everything works (though i wouldn't bet on it). i guess unless someone has precautions about the multimix, or a better alternative, it loo...

okay so i think at this point im deciding between the alesis io and the firebox. mostly because the edirol has no software, and the mbox is more expensive but is usb and has no midi. the one thing im confused about is that the Alesis has an s/pdif input and output, while the firebox uses a cable tha...

i'm a college student, and for once that actually has an advantage: my school's computer store is selling macbooks for $699 with the purchase of apple care (it's normally $1049 in my school's store). i really wanna get this deal, not only because it's a great price, but because my current dell lapto...

omg ok a new page to the saga i figured out that there might be problems with the driver, so i reinstalled them. this works! and there's no noise in recording, either. i then plugged in the power adapter just to make sure that that was the cause of the problem. unfortunately, it didn't work. yep, wh...

the thing that's strange is that i can still use my external HD through the non-busted ports... but the computer refuses to recognize the ozone through those same ports. i guess this suggests that the problem is probably with the ozone?? man, i have no idea. when i get back to school i guess i'll tr...

first: this setup used to work fine before. the deal with the power adapter was a problem with the laptop, not with the pod or ozone. the problem is that the plug doesn't stay plugged in unless i fiddle with it and hold in it a certain position. also, i meant then when i monitored the ozone without ...
