Re: Don't forget the torches (Pitchfork Nation Reviews)

Here’s my first attempt at reviews. An unexpected bonus to my SongFight participation was how much fun it was to listen to everyone’s music. ...and you've discovered the communal quality that truly makes this a great experience. Thank you for coming aboard. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors. T...

Re: Don't forget the torches (Pitchfork Nation Reviews)

Andy Balham - I really like the keys churning over the song, especially the choruses. It seems like you lose the beat at times, but then I actually count "one-two-one-two" and sure enough, it stays on time. So I guess the drums fills just seem awkward and really detract from the drive of the song. ...

Did the Dirge submission make it? Would hate for you people not to suffer the wrath of my entry.

Interesting to see the different interpretations of pitchfork in the lyric archive.

Pitchfork Nation

You are so cool. I am a tool to be used and put away wet. Your words, they are neat. When I write I'm a freak whom everyone turns their nose up at. You're the self-appointed judge of hip high-fives and hugs. And God knows where we'd be if only we all could see this world through your eyes. At the en...

Wow. Our local independent radio station, KDHX, just played this Todd McHatton track over the air. Three cheers for SongFight, eh?

Since we are defining what can and cannot be shared, I've got the engine block from a '72 C10 available for sale. Can I post that here?

I used to put "Everybody Here Wants You" on mixtapes for girls I liked. Haha, now that I think about it, one of the times was a tape I made for my wife before we started dating. Guess it worked!

Re: Just cause I want to drink young blood you think I'm (Super Creepy prefight)

I "get" the comments on my other songs about synth drums and other instruments, but I decided a long, long time ago (late 1970s?) that I'd rather use fake horns and learn about how horns work in an arrangement than not have horns (or strings or drums, and even occasionally bass). So, ya know, conti...

Jim, I think you might be blurring the distinction between rights and what is right. I'm a Libertarian; we think that so long as your actions are not robbing someone else of their liberties, then you can pretty much do whatever the heck you please, including suicide. Don't get me wrong, I think and ...

Re: Are You There God? It's (Young Blood Reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene #1 (Gimme Some) - I would like the bass and drums to be bigger, louder, more in my face. This song has a real nice late-80s alt-rock/post-punk vibe, but, you know, BSS-style. I like the bridge in the middle. Great vocal performance, too! This is the kind of music I used to go ...

I'm amazed that after, what, 15 years or so, this is the first time an artist has had two submissions under the same name in one fight. I would have thought that happened already a bunch of times.

I wish I had a clearer idea of who "the voters" are. I can say that we only had votes from 25 distinct IP addresses. 13 of those votes were for two artists, 8 were for three artists, 2 were for four artists, and 1 each were for five and six artists. My guess is we probably only have 15-20 real diff...
