Re: Bernie knows what I'm talking about (Lost Weekend review

Mr. Beany's Bitty Band: Do you know what isn't awesome about this track? Nothing. I love every little Bitty bit of it. Listening to this track led me to check out Mr. Beany's Bitty Band's YouTube channel, and I am definitely going to keep my eyes and ears open for the concept album he mentioned in ...

Re: Bernie knows what I'm talking about (Lost Weekend review

The Armageddon Machines This may be my favorite. From the backing track that sounds vaguely of a grinding machine to working only for the weekend to have the weekend disappear. Nicely done. Vote. Berkeley Social Scene Very nice. Vote. Gwazi It seemed reasonably well done, but it didn't really grab ...

Re: Got Plans? (pre-fight)

I just posted my lyric and noted that by a spooky coincidence, both Mr. Beany's and my lyrics contain the words "polar bear". Weird, huh? "I'll be your polar bear", my song states. I guess that means Mr. Beany is going to kill and skin me. That's awesome. My song i...

Re: FAWM 2015

I hit my quota for FAWM. I made it over 14 songs. However, my goal was 14 songs for a concept album. I only have demos for 12 songs for the concept album. I have the last two written, but I'd like to do demos before FAWM officially ends.

Re: Songfighter Videos on YouTube

I don't have any SongFight! YouTube videos up yet. That will change with my upcoming concept album, though. All I have right now are the Christmas 2014 album and that's just a video slideshow at best. (Though it does have the lyrics synchronized with the pictures.) I'm going to have to find the orig...

Lost Weekend

Mr. Beany's Bitty Band What if our ship crashes on an island and we lose our minds? What if our ship crashes on an island and we go insane? Would we build smoke, would smoke kill us, could we keep the smoke at bay? What if our ship crashes and we have to kill a polar bear? What if our ship crashes a...

Re: Got Plans? (pre-fight)

I'm actually working on a concept album right now. FAWM has been a help getting the stuff done. ... and I found a way to tie the song title to my concept album, so I'm in.

This time there's an instrument, but I compensate for that by making up my own genre.

Re: Holiday Albums

Some of us from Berkeley Social Scene did a holiday album in 2011: http://berkeleyholidayband.bandcamp.com/album/happy-holidays-2011 Sweet. CDBaby sent out a great guide about which Xmas songs are in the public domain and which aren't. Bandcamp doesn't seem to care what you upload, but other servic...

Re: Holiday Albums

I voted for an artist in the third SongFight, I think. Long-time lurker, and even though I've only recently submitted songs for fights, I think they were both before you joined. Don't worry, though, with the practice I'm getting you'll be able to beat me, soon enough. I'm mostly wondering if anyone ...

Holiday Albums

So... apparently I have a Christmas album coming out on December 1st. Also, I've decided that a Christmas album would be a good way to try to suck less. You know, eventually, like after I've done several Christmas albums. (Or maybe albums dedicated to other random holidays. My daughter wants me to d...

Re: Search Your Feelings (Father & Child Reunion Reviews)

didnt mean to be negative, but I do wonder ometimes if you submit these for fun as a joke. i'm looking forward to hearing instrumental tracks from you. keep doing your thing!! No, that wasn't negative. I'm just disappointed with how it all turned out. I didn't actually say I'd be doing instrumental...

Re: Search Your Feelings (Father & Child Reunion Reviews)

Mr.BBB: No sir, I don't like it. I don't blame you. I was really hoping to bring an entirely different level of awful this week. Like a genuine 8-bit, waltz-timed, orchestrated-in-a-Tracker chiptune backing track. (I even had a hand-drawn waveform!) What's more, the research caused me to revise the...

Re: Search Your Feelings (Father & Child Reunion Reviews)

Mr. Beany Bellows Balefully [/url] cool you doubled your vocal this week. I'm not going to review this because I dont really know youre perspective on music, if this is a joke and you are a musical genius, or you just like singing acapella poems, Not a joke. I had something else planned, but it did...

Re: Father and Child Reunion

I just realized that i say the phrase' child support' 3x in my song so I dont want to post my lyrics :P Dont want to have another "booty" incident Come on, some people have rocker's ear! Without a little lyric help a lot of times the words sound like a mumble. Besides, you can't abuse chi...

Re: Parental Pre-Fight

I am unhappy. I've been working long and hard trying to get a chiptune backing track for this week's fight. (I think I actually started the process before the title was named.) Earlier in the week, I recorded an "in case I don't get it done on time" a capella version. I decided, "if I...

At the Reunion Mr. Beany Bellows Balefully At the reunion I saw him At the reunion he was there My son! My son! I saw him. At the reunion he was there. At the reunion I saw him The man on the slab, he was there. My son! My son! I saw him. With our sorrows drawn over we bear. The soldiers they came a...

Re: Parental Pre-Fight

I am guaranteed to be in.

I'm still trying to work all the details out with a chiptune. If I get this worked out, I'll be submitting as "Mr. Beany Bashes Buttons."

Worst case, I'll be submitting as "Mr. Beany Bellows Balefully" again. I have that MP3 ready -- just incase.

Re: Parental Pre-Fight

If someone is lacking inspiration for a techno tune, I posted lyrics to one. It's even based on true events. I'm still planning to try a chiptune waltz-time thingy if I can get everything worked out. We'll see how it goes. It would probably be easier for me to do a techno tune but... I do like to ke...

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte

I have ideas for a different song that may get made, but I did think of this. This would be EBM or other bass-heavy techno. As a side note: My father really is in to DJing, electronic/techno music and women younger than his children... and has literally said, "Some people are freaks. They just ...

WreckdoM: Because we were feeding my baby boy chocolate, your song came up today. My niece and a friend of the family found your song "strangely catchy." My wife said it made her nauseous. My wife likes her songs clean and predictable. (We have musical taste in common -- My musical tastes ...

Re: It gets upset easily (Be Careful With That reviews)

I think a lot about magic. I joke about song faeries. But maybe I'm not really joking all the way through. I don't think I am - not really. Nothing is really seen all the way through. If I keep on I shall sound like one of my songs though... Song faeries is as good a term for them as any other. Yea...

Re: Parental Pre-Fight

I did some initial planning. I have a tune and lyrics.

I hope to have some time to actually invest in making music... we'll see how that goes.

It's decidedly not a nursery rhyme, though.

It's actually sort of depressing.
