Re: SoundCloud limiting free accounts to _15 tracks_!!

For me, SoundCloud is a place that * will host and stream tracks in a bulletproof way for free * makes it easy for me to upload tracks quickly * people are familiar with, so they know what to expect-- the song I'm trying to make them listen to is enough of an unknown already I don't find their organ...

Re: Tuning Vocals in Post

One thing that I have't seen mentioned in this thread: artists prior to the invention of pitch correction often corrected their pitch and other errors without re-performing the whole thing. The art of "punching in" a small piece of audio into the middle of a take in order to correct a flaw probably ...

Re: Tuning Vocals in Post

First Argument In Favor: Let's say you have a long note and you go slightly out of tune the longer you hold it. Like how Bill Withers goes a little flat as the note goes on in "Lovely Day". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEeaS6fuUoA I'd say that particular Bill Withers performance is really sweet,...

"too serious" about their songwriting to write songs in a hurry for random titles.
Meanwhile, we are too serious about our songwriting to NOT write songs in a hurry for random titles.

Re: Sidefight idea

I like the idea— I would suggest that round 1 of these side fights should be a draft and everyone should do another iteration and submit it— and then the reviews start. Often reviews contain stuff that you already know needs improvement. So give a deadline to force a song to get squoze out, then ano...

Memorize a couple exercises that focus on the G string and it'll be second nature before you know it.

If you encounter violin music in bass clef, call the authorities immediately. Do not approach.

Just my $.02 on this topic, which is cool to see such thoughtful responses for. Anyway, at the risk of triggering more blah blah blah than I can handle.... There's a ratio when evaluating/criticizing art: A. Choices you think were made on purpose and need to be interpreted rather than improved B. Ch...

I don't things are super different around here vs "the old days" but they maybe are overall a little mellower and more polite on the boards.

Re: the $100 question

Here's my opinion-- less about what to ask than a suggested approach for asking stuff. From the description on the page you linked to, I would expect the teacher to have a plan laid out for their demo and mix. And hopefully they've done the same "set up, record, and mix" process multiple times-- sin...

Re: Loudness management

Loosing votes here and there because of loudness doesn't really matter since people are still friend flooding the votes anyhow... ;) Heh, this is true. Though if you approach it as practice-- practice songwriting, practice performing, practice producing --you want all the feedback you can get about...

Re: Loudness management

1. Does loudness affect listening length? How far into a track do listeners get? Can’t tell this from voting data though I think the server logs do have some kind of listening length for media files if I recall correctly. Wonder if the jukebox has any info like that. That would be interesting to on...

Re: Loudness management

Interesting, though a couple of the “so what” questions are: 1. Does loudness affect voting? Do songs outside the average for their fight get more or less votes? Outliers are probably almost always a result of port equipment or inexperience (rarely on purpose tho not never) 1. Does loudness affect l...

I guess I can see your point about the mess. I made a loaf that’s no-knead and rose in a couple hours. It was fine I guess. I do like the “crazy dough” recipe from the Bigger Bolder Baking lady, and I’m thinking of trying to make the Japanese milk bread that YouTube keeps trying to show me. Today I ...

Re: Cooking

Watched a lot of bread making videos and I just don’t understand why not having to knead is just a big draw. It never seems like you have to knead for hours or anything and a lot of no-knead recipes make you wait for hours and hours. So you trade having to knead for waiting around for fucking ever. ...

It's missing the time management and the equipment consideration aspects of my concept.
