back up your soundcloud.

http://www.completemusicupdate.com/article/digital-archivists-plan-to-back-up-soundcloud/ If you have put music or podcasts or anything up on Soundcloud, make sure you have a backup. The service is under financial strain and though they assure everyone that nothing is going to change, we know that p...

The Sennheiser 650 headphones that Ken recommended are available for the next 12 days from "Massdrop" for $200 (regularly like $316 on Amazon).

I didn't measure my head, but the head tracking actually works! With no calibration! Headphones are my best option because baby so I think it'll be interesting to get good at mixing with them.

Re: Deals On Gear and Software

Mmm, wish those were on sale. I've had these 7506's since the 90's! I think I know what you mean about harshness-- I bought the Waves NX plugin, which has an EQ compensation setting for the 7506's, and when I engage it the sound gets much much more muted. http://www.waves.com/plugins/nx#introducing-...

Come on man, Pixars and ELECTRIC cars.

Yeah I thought about that but then was going more for a Berkeley feel than Pali Alto. And Incouldnt think if anything that rhymes with "biodiesel".

Re: New Jeff Tweedy Album only available for premium subscribers on Spotify

I have no problem with artists restricting the formats their music is available on. Why should Tweedy have to put it anywhere he doesn't want to?

As far as I can tell, the free Spotify tier contributes to the problem of artists not being able to make a living.

Beyond Yacht Rock

For a few days back in whenever it was at Santa Cruz, we were all obsessed with the online video series "Yacht Rock".

They have a podcast: http://www.yachtrock.com

Each episode they create an arbitrary genre name and then pick songs that should go in it.

Re: Track sequencing

Spotify defaults to shuffle, so IMO track order doesn't matter for new albums that you don't already have the order ingrained like the White Album. I don't even know how important it is to release songs all at once any more. But the systems don't make it easy to release an album a track at a time-- ...

Re: Assassin's Creed

Man it was so boring IMO. The thing about staying true to the source material is that USUALLY people don't mind so much if you deviate and make an awesome movie. It's when you deviate and suck that people start getting pissed off (e.g. The Hobbit movies despite their box office success). If you stic...

A disturbing number of you have made the "I-don't-get-the- Black-Days -connection-in-your song" remark (or variations thereon). Did you try reading the comment I posted on this subject in this very thread? I devoted 319 words to the topic. Too much to ask in light of having an instrumenta...
