Re: Pick a cheek (Kissing Contest Reviews)

Berkeley Isolation Scene - I want to like this song more than I like it. Maybe it’s because the pitch of the vocals sounds way too accurate. I’m assuming correction is used...either that or you just have good intonation and a super deadpan delivery that doesn’t work for me at all. Anyway, the guita...

Re: Deals On Gear and Software

B&H has Alesis Elevate 3 Mk2 3" monitors on sale for $50 for the pair. If you just need something for hearing what you are working on, these are probably fine. I've been using something similar from Mackie that cost me a little more than that and have been satisfied so far in terms of using them for...

Cubase LE Access Download Code?

Hi All,
Has anyone purchased an interface lately that came with a Cubase LE Access Download Code that they won't be using? I have someone who could very much use it. Thanks!

Meanwhile, while @gizo has been forced into work I've been touching all of his instruments. In with some existential power pop made using @Lollypops guitar, @gizo's glockenspiel and my childhood Casio Tonebank SA-1.
I love my Casio SA-7! I've used it on a bunch of songs.

Re: Sound On Sound article about automated mastering services

I hoped they would take songs, have the same tracks mastered by professional engineers and online and then do a blind test with professionals. That would be useful information.

Reminds me of the old GarageBand.com
Yes! I was just thinking of that, but couldn't remember the name. The best part was you could get a gift certificate for an online CD store. I think I got a few CDs that way.

Not totally sure what this is, but the TBProAudio 5 Band Frequency Monitor can be downloaded for free. Product description: Isol8 is an advanced mix monitoring tool. It divides the frequency range into 5 bands. These 5 bands can be soloed or muted individually. This will help you to concentrate on c...

2/13/2020 - What love song do you wish you'd written?

QOTD: What love song do you wish you'd written? In advance of Valentine's Day, what love song do you wish you'd written? This was asked to a bunch of famous folks on NPR's All Songs Considered. I thought about the songs my wife and I chose for the big moments in our wedding first and immediately cho...

Check this DAW based on Microsoft Excel: https://www.theverge.com/2020/2/6/21126465/xl-studio-music-making-drum-microsoft-excel-daw-dylan-tallchief I'm a little suspicious of randomly downloading and installing things, but I will guarantee you my vote if you use this in a fight. This movie was crazy intense. I was uncomfortable the whole time. The severity of my reaction is what makes me think this movie is so well done. It was on a ton of top movie lists of 2019, so I was pretty surprised when it didn't win a bunch of awards. Not that I pay much attention to it.

Right. I forgot to mention how it seemed like they tried to tie as many loose ends up with a tight little bow at the end. Wookies get medals! Other stuff I can't remember right now... Separately, I thought it was funny that stormtroopers got jet packs. As if someone in the writer's room was all, "Do...
