Re: Back to the drawing board (Well, reviews)
Oof, I know what you mean, after having listened to it again. I need to invest in proper studio time, so I can have somebody who knows what they're doing get me the sound I need on my vocals, with a proper microphone and experience behind a mixer.Ross wrote: I heard your sounds, but not your song.

Re: Singing for people with Big Goals
This is all great stuff, and I've heard it all from other sources before, but never all of it put in one place at a time so succinctly. In the future I'm going to refer back to this when I'm having a problem getting the sound I want and can't think of a way to fix it.

Re: Back to the drawing board (Well, reviews)
Practice, Practice, Practice. And a good mic doesn't hurt either. But mostly, Practice. Record yourself, compare it to properly sung/recorded vocals, and then practice some more. Work with other vocalists, and listen to their criticism.Generic wrote:What can someone whose vocals need work do to work on them?

crabcore Dude, I'm not that flexible Edit: I kind of want to kill myself for having been compared to Attack Attack... WTF. At least my music makes fucking sense, and doesn't go randomly from crappy "breakdowns" to shitty techno breaks. the entirety of all of my songs are Techno... and I n...

Re: Wishing for a good title? (prefight)
Just need to record the vocals, and I'm in. Going for a "what-if-children-of-bodom-had-no-instruments?" kind of feel here. Edit: With cookie monster vocals, because my high scream just isn't coming out right today, or maybe it's my mic... ugh. Edit DEUX: Scratch that! All forms of screams ...

Back to the Well
Orchestra Of Blades Struggle hard, your ropes are tight Arms are tied, wide open eyes Where you go there is no light Down below where water lies Back to the well You’re going back to the well Where you’ve always belonged With cement on your feet And a gag in your mouth You can scream if you want ‘R...

I'm thinking more Silence of The Lambs, as in "It puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again" kind of thing.

Holy crap, I was thinking they were too high in the mix O.o I dunno how that could have happened.Future Boy wrote:Music is kind of fun. Vocal is too low in the mix. Rapping could be tighter. Not much more to say about this.

That's why I wrote my song from the point of view of a drugged out insane gulf war veteran. You can't be offended by me, I eat grass and play with a little peice of wood named joe!

Re: Writer's bitch is such a block (Dry Spell reviews)
Theoretically, if the song is written right, and you perform each track perfectly in time and on pitch, it should sound okay without being able to hear the tracks already recorded. If this wasn't true, then nobody would ever be able to record that first track, off of which to base the others. If the...

Well, assuming I can record my vocals without sounding like a tool, this should be a good fight for me. I got an interesting reggae/hip hop song in the works for it.

Re: Writer's bitch is such a block (Dry Spell reviews)
I got pretty lazy on this one when it comes to the concept behind the song. I figured it would be the soundtrack to a hypothetical video game stage by the name of "Dry Spell", which I guess would be a desert or something.jast wrote:Rick Evans -- what does it have to do with dry spells, though?

In, for better or for worse, with the theoretical soundtrack of a theoretical video-game stage.
