Re: My Life

While sick, I just read Oedipus Rex over the course of a long hot bath.

That play is fucked!

Re: My Life

I recently read there was a strong correlation between being a good computer programmer/software engineer and musical ability. I wonder what the connection between ADD and those two domains is? I mainly bring that up since, well, we're both ADD musician developers on here discussing our adderall usa...

Re: My Life

Before Adderall I was trying Concerta and it didn't actually do anything for my focus, it just made me irritable and unable to sleep. I think these meds have a tendency to stay in my system a lot longer than expected, too, which is probably why it took a week and a half for the BP spike to become n...

Re: My Life

I was taking 10mg/day (XR) and my blood pressure increased over time, and I noticed things were very wrong when it got up to 160/100, which is when I stopped taking it and sent a note to my doctor. The next day the nurse said that given that experience I really should have gone to the ER. :P 160/10...

Re: My Life

so adderall raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Bleh. Gonna try a lower dose starting this week to see if that helps without nearly putting me in the hospital, but soon I need to find new doctors because I’ll be starting the new job and their health insurance options don’t include the HMO...

Happy birthday applesvodkasleepysilverdoor! You must have been a little teeny tiny baby when you started songfighting!
Yeah, pretty much! I entered my first ones when I was 16-17, came back briefly at 20, then disappeared for a decade :)

Thanks to you and owl!

Re: When you turn 47 (Peak Misery prefight)

Things I've learned songfighting: my depressive and moody entries usually never get many votes, while my peppy ones do. And now we've got "Peak Misery" for a title? Must. Suppress. Gothy. Tendencies... But you know the votes you do get are "big love" votes, yo. Oh, I know you te...

Re: When you turn 47 (Peak Misery prefight)

Got my track submitted, and yet again went for an entirely new style! Because somehow "Peak Misery" translated to a funky number about a sexy flight attendant, though I only know one flight attendant and it's definitely not about her. Maybe the end is a little bit abrupt, and I realized th...

Phlebia - Peak Misery She’s got those sonic booms, she comes in with a bang She’s got my tray in an upright and locked position She’s got me in first class, she’s got the finest ass Her cargo bay’s the size of a 747 Before you clear for take off, you’ve got to check the METARs She’s fogging up my m...

I'm so far out of my comfortable genres with this one, I have no idea how it'll turn out. But that was the most fun I've had recording bass in a long time...

Re: Give me reviews or give me... (Liberty Street Reviews)

@owl: knowing you tend to look into lyrics relatively in depth, I was curious if you'd look that one up! Yeah, I picked it up reading through mycological field guides...and a botanical/mycological term meaning "droplets of exuded liquid" was such a perfect, if obscure, fit for the lyric I ...

Re: Give me reviews or give me... (Liberty Street Reviews)

Reviewing on shuffle this go round, so "trying something new" I guess. Phlebia (liner notes) - Ha, my own came up first on shuffle. So I already elaborated quite a bit in the prefight the ways in which this one was “different” from most of my other entries. Personally, I think the producti...

Re: Take a walk down (Liberty Street prefight)

I can already safely say these are the most poetic lyrics about post-vasectomy barebacking I have ever heard. Ha, thanks! I asked my wife for ideas for the prompt, cause I was drawing a blank at first. Without missing a beat, she immediately said, "a vasectomy!". I couldn't NOT roll with ...

Re: Take a walk down (Liberty Street prefight)

New things for me: Heavily acoustic driven, at least in the first half. It's not that I never add acoustic guitar to anything, both Pocket Full Of Bones and the Dregs have them present, just not really as the main element leaving the song. But I didn't introduce another instrument other than the aco...

Re: Come join in (The Dregs Reviews)

Ujn and Reve - It's a shame you didn't submit this in time, because I probably would have voted for it. The intricacy of the picking, the production, the "ahh" backing vocals with that faint chorus on them, all of this is pretty great. Like most of the stuff that I would take the time to ...
