Re: We Sound Like Each Other's Reviews

Moejoe Allstar----was that zz top opening with a Gibson sg, tube amp or effects? like that sound. Thanks for listenin'. The boogie beat is my alltime favorite groove. I could play it all night long and have had fantasies of being in a band that played only boogie. The question is what to do with it...

Re: We Sound Like Each Other's Reviews

moe ps. for than unwanted mike hiss, just download Audacity and use Noise Removal, its free. It was Liquid Mix that did it. I wanted to give it one more chance. But aside from the hiss, it's just way too unstable. And I hear there's no longer any tech support. Too bad. I loved that thing. But good ...

Re: Elvis vs. Elvis

Haven't voted yet. But Paco, your Lonesome is brilliant and beautiful. You played it perfectly straight. Or maybe not. I can't tell and I love that. And Albatross, I could listen to your Shoes all day which, by my calculations and allowing time for a couple of breaths in between, comes to over 940 l...

Re: Mix it in the car.

I test out the mix of all my tunes in the car before sending anything out. Wondering when someone will call the cops thinking I'm breaking into the car when I'm sitting out there at odd hours.

Re: Google thinks songfight.org "may be compromised"

Regarding a different kind of quality control, anybody have a tune that you "finished" but then decided was too lame to submit for a fight. I got one. A doozy. I'll show you mine if you show me yours. (I would need technical assistance in figuring out how to share.)

Re: Elvis vs. Elvis

Change of plans here too. A couple of things are expected from Mojoville. An unfaithful rendering of Treat Me Nice is probable. And some buds are coming over tonight to record Viva Las Vegas. We'll see how that turns out. Only my second time recording live drums. Which was my goal when I geared up f...

Re: Your Life Is In Your Foot's Hands (No Brakes Reviews)

[ . The Kenzie Chickens + Your songs are all well done. Well performed, well recorded. - But they feel a bit like genre exercises. + Still, would be nice to hear this in a bar after a few rounds. OUCH. GENRE EXERCISES? DANG BUT THE TRUTH HURTS. I GOTTA TAKE THAT EXTRA STEP BUT I'M STUCK. THANKS FOR ...

Re: 2012-09-12

Seattle is a great city to live in. If I could hit the rewind button, I'd certainly consider Seattle for my home base. Aside from the gray winters, the weather in the pacific northwest is great. No humidity. A short drive to Kurt Cobain's hometown. I once spent a winter there. It helps explain his w...

Re: Your Life Is In Your Foot's Hands (No Brakes Reviews)

I’m feelin’ too old, tired and beat up today to do full reviews so some brief commentary will suffice. Outstanding fight. Not a glaring runt in the litter. Glad to hear Cody back in style, Gregg Boethin shows his writing and singing chops again, WreckdoM set the clicktrack to infinity BPM and Drew S...

Re: Write a Hatchet Job (Reviews)

Belated Reviews Balance Lost: Yup, sounds fab. Jangly guitar, adventuresome bass. Composition, playing, arrangement, recording all top drawer. Wouldn’t change a thing. Berkeley: Nice hook and good pop sensibility. Guitar perhaps mixed a little high or overdriven more than necessary for this kind of ...

I spent the morning channeling Jimmy Reed doing Treat Me Nice. Not too ambitious, just seeking that Jimmy groove.

Welcome! I'm with you re the need to get the fire lit. The title gives me a seed for an idea although every time when I first see a new title I think, "WhadamIgonnado with that?". And the deadline is a necessary evil, if evil at all. So are you ready? Wanna fight? Let's get it on.

Hey baby, hows about some reviews? Berkeley: Nice spare production and tasty refrain. Well performed and mixed octave vocal harmony and added vocal toward the end. Brown Word: Scary and beautiful. Some Bertolt Brecht in there? Chocolate Chips: I like the refrain and wish there was more to the tune b...
