Oh my gosh I finally figured it out. Thanks for all of the help guys.
All I had to do was unplug the Tascam before I exported. I have no idea why I didn't try that earlier, but hey.
Thanks again

Re: Cakewalk keeps exporting my songs as completely silent track
I tried highlighting all of the tracks and then exporting it but all I got was silence again.
The weirdest thing is i had just successfully exported a song and when I went back I couldn't do it again.

Cakewalk keeps exporting my songs as completely silent track
I finally managed to get my interface up, only to find that when I export my finished songs they come out as three minutes of silence. Earlier today I exported a song and managed to get it to play, but I realized it was too quiet. So I went back, kicked the volume up a little, and now whenever I try...

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
So my band recorded five new songs fairly recently at a local studio. I'd be very grateful to hear what Song Fight has to say about them. www.myspace.com/thespeedofsoundinseawater I played guitar, bass, and sang on the recordings, plus I play trombone for a brief moment in one of the songs. Thanks f...

Re: Firewire help
I'm thinking about sending the Firepod back and getting this: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... 245002#new
Does anyone have experience with this interface?

Re: Firewire help
I don't think there's space available to add anything. I'd rather stick with the Firepod, but I think I'll just have to go the USB route.

Firewire help
Ok, so I went and ordered a Firepod firewire interface. Little did i know my new laptop has no firewire port... I could've sworn it did but apparently not. So after flipping out and releasing my rage, I realized I have an eSATA port. Is there any way I can buy an adapter that will allow me to plug t...

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Oh wait I figured it out haha, they're both microphone inputs as well as 1/4", right?
Anyways, if I go about buying an interface, how confident should I be that it'll solve my problem? I don't want to go and get one and then find out I have the same issue.

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Oh wait a sec, I didn't follow that link last time. I guess the one I looked at was a different model. Still though, there are some I've found that look like the don't have any XLR inputs on 'em.

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Looks good. The thing that confuses me about some of these interfaces is it looks like all of those microphone input jacks in the back are 1/4" ones. Am I just looking at it wrong?

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Yeah I'm thinking I may just upgrade to some kind of firewire interface, but if I do this I want to be completely sure the same problem isn't going to happen. That'd probably push me over the edge. If I'm gonna buy an interface I want to make sure it's got enough inputs to mic drums and runs on Vist...

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Well the thing is even if i record with a drum loop then the loop will bleed into the mix rather than just the click track.
I would embrace the click, but then I'd have to also embrace the bleed that comes from ever other previously recorded track I have :[

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
I know exactly what you mean about the 11th time thing. You sure you don't remember how you fixed the click track thing? Any information would be appreciated.
This thing is driving me out of my dang mind.

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
I tested it out in Fruity Loops with the same results. Even when I select the Mic in as the only input it happens for some reason.

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Earlier I found out that the computer has a built in mic, but I managed to turn that off. Hmmm I'll try to see if I get the same problem in a different program.

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
So if I try to record a track using a click it'll bleed into the mix. It's recording straight from the stereo mix even though I've already muted that. The same thing happens if i dub over a track I've already recorded. The first track will be faintly present in the second. I know it can't just be th...

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Ahhh, very good point.
I went and downloaded the ASIO drivers like ken said to do, only I figured out that it was muted because I had the wrong output drivers selected.
The click track problem is still a nuisance though.

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
Hmmm, well it's helpful whether or not it's vague. I thought I'd solved the problem by increasing the buffer, but when i went to record it started skipping again. Now I have another problem, even with nothing plugged into the microphone jack whatever tracks are being played during recording are blee...

Re: Help with lagging in Cakewalk
I actually tried doing that earlier but it muted everything for some odd reason.
