Re: The Whistler

The Whistler - Paco del Stinko Yeah he could whistle From his butt And if you listen I'll tell you what He could pucker And he could blow If you were lucky You saw the show You never heard a more gorgeous tune (A gorgeous tune) Than when he whistled - Under the moon The crowds he captured From all ...

I reckon JB already has his whistle wetted. Wait. Did that come out right?

Re: Cooking

There are a few things missing from that sangwich photo: a handful of chips, a beverage that may or may not contain alcohol, and my dumb mug getting ready to chow it down. And napkins. Looks awesome! I get Hatch chiles shipped here every year and one thing I use them for is a traditional New Mexican...

Re: If you rally your friends and family then (You Never Know reviews)

Super quick comments. Some good stuff here, not all the same type of song, by any means. Berkeley Social Scene - Nice mood shifts from this era spanning prom tune. Hints of Floyd as well, different production sounds very nice, raw sounds a treat. A bit more Costello in the vocals would throw it over...

Re: The cards were all dealt (Face Down reviews)

Quick comments. Some strong stuff this fight, nice. Surprises, too. a.flaim - This has good intentions and would be more fun with everything working properly, vocals especially. Excellent intro had me thinking sci-fi for a bit, then it got all popped out. I like where your voice will be someday, mis...

Re: You Never Know

You Never Know - Paco del Stinko Aerials and distant memories Fog creeping out from under the leaves Overdeveloped in diminishing areas Sometimes you just don't wake up from the dream You can't go back - You just can't go But you tell yourself you never know You never know Understanding a long-gone...

Re: Counting stars one at a time (The First Million Is The Hardest reviews)

Quick comments before work. (Ugh) Decent enough fight with nothing really stellar. Gil comes closest, to me. a.flaim - Great energy, modern "punk" I guess you call it. The vocal timbre is likable, but the pitch is way off. Lyrics are empowering/motivating. But yeah, and coming from me, wor...

Re: Face Down

Face Down - Paco del Stinko Some people bite a pillow when they're on their belly Just like an ironing board or so they tell me If that's where you find yourself It's just like a show and tell (You can be face down) You know it's every single night (You can be face down) C'mon baby it's alright (Yo...

Re: Matter is pulled by gravity until there is... (Material Change reviews)

I’d have preferred the guitar a little cleaner/sharper so it’s not fighting so much with the clavichord. When I was recording tracks and mixing, I said "Oh. listen how they kind of blend together. Neat!" I totally hear what you're saying, though, and agree that that would clear things up ...

Re: Matter is pulled by gravity until there is... (Material Change reviews)

Quick comments. There was nothing here that I disliked although many could use some polishing. Coughy Cake! Andy Balham - Scratchpad and first time through feel with moments of what it could be-ness. The lyrics and progressions are good, if not necessarily meant to be together. Needs a lot of screws...

The First Million Is The Hardest

The First Million Is The Hardest - Paco del Stinko It's not easy when you got nothing Ain't got two nickels for the rubbing Scratching and a scraping to get by my oh ny Only got crumbs from the pie The first million is the hardest The first mile is the farthest The first cheese is the sharpest The ...

True that, LT. But wait until the day I cover one of your tunes in an 80s new wave style. Uh-huh. See what people think then.

Disco del Stinko left in the oven. Boo!

EDIT: I took it out of the oven and mailed it in, warm, fresh (sorta) and stinky. Understood if it doesn't get posted. :)

Re: What are you trying to say? (Cast A Shadow reviews)

Very quick impressions. Clear winner I think this week or should be. Fight was neither suck-fest, nor greatest ever. Brown Word and the Big Whine - There are whiffs of both Sabbath and porn tunage here, I can dig it. Sludgy but still rollin'. Melody could break away from following the chords so much...
