Re: Deep Cuts from the SongFight! Archive
Neither got much love in the votes or on the boards at the time, but I have always liked the Lunkhead tracks More Than Soup and Dirty Chucks.

Re: I beat Gyruss once too
What does it mean to "beat Gyruss", anyway?
I got to Earth and just had to go back to Uranus. What a ripoff.

Re: Drum Overheads
I've been looking into anew pair of overheads, and I was considering the Shure SM-81 vs. the Rode NT5 vs the Oktava MK-12.
Anyone have opinions on the relative merits of those?
I'd want something that functions reasonably well in a stereo pair on an acoustic guitar as well.

Re: Drunken ebaying.
Anyone used the BBE gear? Is it any good? There's a sonic maximizer sitting idle in my rack right now. For a while I'd strap it across the bus for final mixdown and think "Yeah this is awesome!" Then I started doing one mix with it in the loop and one without and A/B-ing them later and found that w...

Re: real synths
Anybody else out there using real hardware synths? I've got a couple of Casio CZ-series synths that I fire up from time to time. In fact, my CZ-3000 can be heard doing a pad and solo in the Narcaloungers' Wedding Song. I agree, there's something about playing the Real Deal vs. a software simulation.

Indeed, a lot depends on what your use pattern is. For reference, I do most of my recording nowadays on a G4 Powerbook with 1G of RAM. For what I do, that is more than enough, though I tend to be more of the real instrument/microphone/multitrack kind of guy and less the super-duper plugin and softwa...

A Woman on Paper Suckweasel We met in high school I played it real cool I asked her out to the football game Under the grandstands We made our big plans And things would never be the same She took me by the hand and looked into my eyes And then she said the thing that took me by surprise "Let's get ...

Suckweasel Great surf vibe out of the box. I listened to this on my "good" stereo and didn't like the mix, but listening again on crap computer speakers, I really like it -- did you mix on crap computer speakers? The chorus lyrics don't work for me, but the rest does, and executed with terrific har...

Anti-M I like the vocal effect in the verse. Perhaps just in contrast, but the vocals in the chorus sound flat. End is a little abrubt. Good song. B. Ellison Nicely done. The accordian in the chorus is a nice touch. The bridge sounds a little chaotic and discordant, which I suppose could be intentio...
