Re: Forget Elvis, (I’d Rather Drink With The Devil prefight)

Okay I've got a tightly wound snare drum and some Helmet-ey riffing. Need to do my vox and flesh out a jammy part.

Re: Forget Elvis, (I’d Rather Drink With The Devil prefight)

I drowned a southern devil scorpion with a hose last summer after it stung my wife. So I have lyric material I suppose.

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 2 Challenge

This is turning out far more depressing that my source material ever was. Somehow I've turned a light-hearted halloween comedy into an existential crisis. Oops.

Kind of abusing my pedal rack on this one. But that's okay, because why have a pedal rack if you don't abuse it?

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 1 RESULTS

I'm most impressed by EmKayDeeBee's managing to get both a #1 and a #33 rating in the same contest. Ha ha, it’s certainly quite something huh?! I recognise what you say about supporting the people you know, but am grateful for feeling welcome too - it’s hard to be new in any social gathering. Well ...

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 1 RESULTS

I'm most impressed by EmKayDeeBee's managing to get both a #1 and a #33 rating in the same contest. The fact that I didn't get cut by writing a silly song about poop kind of surprises me -- I suspected that topic would be polarizing with the judges and I was certainly right. As my wife said: "send t...

Listened, enjoyed, was inspired, voted, read your comments. thank you!! I could never write like Anton, or play the tambourine like Joel, or stare at my shoes with enough intensity. Just happy to play and create and learn from you'all. The secret to my retro, classic sound is old cheap gear that ju...

Huh, guess I should have written something 🤦‍♂️
I don't know, I kind of like how you're the only one with no description but just a picture. And the picture you chose kind of matches your genre, I say you did fine.

Re: Pictures from when (I Was A Child Model reviews)

I’ve been playing a lot of bowling on the Nintendo Switch. It’s like Wii bowling but better. Anyways, the first night these songs were posted I was listening to these with AirPods while bowling and got the idea of posting the score for each frame per song at the end of each review. So yeah, 1 frame...

Re: Pictures from when (I Was A Child Model reviews)

Where the mf'in reviews at? Brother Baker - In the beginning, I’m assuming that’s a distorted synth that’s making that pleasant distorted sound. I remember you said that you were going to try and add in as many instruments as possible to this. I’m not entirely sold on this melody line, but I like th...

Point taken! For what it's worth, I do have an idea that is true to the actual prompt - brainstorming day was productive! So no worries on that one. Just getting a feel for a format shift! (Also I impulsively entered as a pseudonym so "hi I'm phlebia" is out anyway...)

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 1 Challenge

So how strict with the title must we be? Am I assuming that announcing our identity and saying something about ourselves is about the extent of it?

And does the opening shout of Kid Rock's Bawitdaba make that count as an example?

Re: Pictures from when (I Was A Child Model reviews)

Thoughts: JP's song is interesting and presumably a literary reference that seems a little overlong. It reminded me a bit of the Grimm's version of Snow White but it's clearly not that. CazaroTaro, your stuff sounds better with a little bit more dreaming in the mix. I like how you still integrated y...

I also have not yet listened to all the songs, but if Vowl Sounds doesn’t win I’m starting a riot.
It would have to be a slow motion riot. Because it's soundtracked by shoegaze.

Re: Pictures from when (I Was A Child Model reviews)

Have listened to Brother Baker and Brown Word so far. Between those two and my own, seems like this is the week of starting off with the i-VI chord progression. And Brown Word and I both used the same beat pretty much. Heh. Brother Baker's reminds me of early Chelsea Wolfe but with more dudes.

Phlebia: Not my genre (we've covered this before), but I really enjoy your dry wit and just the straight up odd things arise in your lyrics, to wit, "you're on spin cycle with double rinses." Really well put together, as usual, and this week one of the things that sticks out to me is that your voca...

So, uh, how many more "pet genres" of mine are we gonna do as optional challenges? Cause I'm down with this trend. Or just "genre fights" in general.
