The second segment of ICN is up <a href="http://roymond.com/icn/">here</a>. I'm playing with podcasting, <b>and I suck as aDJ</b>, but am forcing myself to do this to produce content and be a part of the podcast distribution model. I'm piecing together some plans for a larger Independent C...

I am not a keyboardist, and have an Oxygen 8 which does what it does well and is small and lightweight. However, it's not a real keyboard. Imaging you using one is like imaging Coltrain playing Spud's midi sax. Fluffy mentioned some small weighted key boards, but I don't know how practically portabl...

Needed: ambient instrumental music

I have started a podcast that discusses independent content networks - sort of creating a true network distribution system out of indie material that can operate effectivve in spite of, and in competition with, corporate ones. More than that it features awesome music by you folks. The second segment...

Yeah, what Ken said! Also, maybe your CD burning software will recognize the files, because creating an audio CD will give you a 16bit file, then rip it from the CD. If you time it I'd like to know if a search on download.com for free utilities would be faster :)

This newsbyte about last night's VP debates cracked me up: <i>"Of the 68 voters who said the debate changed their vote, 53 percent said they would now vote for President George W. Bush and 45 percent said they would now vote for Sen. John Edwards. Survey USA says a sample this size is too smal...

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/s=recorders/search/detail/base_pid/240834/ Yes, the PocketStudio5 is the closest at this point. Plus it has the potential to be that "hidden" weekend studio without dragging my laptop and camera case out. Removes the hesitancy. I'm always afraid o...

They're not just toys to me ... I agree the 722 is pricey, but in my line of work it's not, cuz it's an investment. No kids. Yet. 8) I didn't mean that literally. I got my Morantz as partial payment for a regular gig recording authors and poets for the National Book Awards. Its an awesome portable ...

My next big purchase is the 722 or 742. Pablo Yeah, there are some pretty fun high-end toys, but I have to send my kids to college one day and my bonus this year was, uh, well maybe it wasn't. The 722 looks to be $2300. There's an HBB minidisc unit that's $1300 and allows digital transfers. I was a...

You have an iPod right? They make a microphone for it. I forget the link, but I suspect you can do a search and find it. Ken Yes, that would be sweet, but 16-bit audio at 8kHz isn't quite production quality, even for my low standards :) I'm looking for a minidisc that allows digital transfer to my ...

Field recorders

Hey, who records on those digital field recorders thingies? Blue has a DAT, I believe. Anybody use Minidisc? I want to transfer digital files to my DAW, not output analog and have to re-digitize. I also don't want to spend $1,300 on that HMH-whatever...or carry such a big thing (I have a great Moran...

A truly intelligent, caring, obviously good person whose wife is filthy rich would be ashamed to keep that money. What the hell does it matter that his wife is filthy rich? How does that enter into the picture about how he should perform his job or his campaign? Why do people feel that being rich i...

Podcasting for Songfight!?

I've just started checking out iPodding [podcasting], which uses RSS technologies to syndicate mp3 files as enclosures. <a href="http://www.nbc4.com/technology/3772528/detail.html">Here's an article about it</a> My thought is this: my newsreader would essentially pick up the latest songfig...
