I’m 99% sure I’ve made this observation before, but I love how the waveform gives your Soundcloud image an excellent moustache.
Oh hell yes, you've sold me on a new look. Around this time next year you're all going to be asking, "Why is Gene Shalit at SFL 2022?'

Okay then here it is: Hanky Code's cover of "Feathers" by Badger Patrol, with special guest lead vocalist Lichen Throat!

I have an additional cover in mind, but I'm not 100% sure it's going to happen.
Hanky Code is in too - the additional cover is 100% happening.

Re: Blue Lang Hxaro

I don't want to be a nag, but as the Jerks have noted before: having no deadline is a great way to doom a Sidelight/Coverfight. Regardless, to get us started here's a repost of Hanky Code's cover of Frannie by sonofsupercar. I have an additional cover in mind, but I'm not 100% sure it's going to hap...

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Two "Drag Me Around"

Dear Jerks - BSS with "the most boring and repetitive chorus I've heard in a long time". Well, I didn't intend to go that far with it, but I was surprised that you didn't make the leap to connect the repetition with the title and and theme of the lyrics. Oh, poor me, another misunderstood...

Re: Why/How you should double tracks rather than make a copy and pan.

I'd done that 'dupe/pan/nudge' thing for years, but around half of the time I'd have a problem with Logic inconsistently not recognizing the existence of one of the tracks or regions for a second or so; like the left track wouldn't kick in until a moment later, making the beginning of the instrument...

Re: Rest In Peace

Aw goddammit. Jim Steinman, songwriter/producer extraordinaire passed away Monday April 19 at age 73. He is probably best known for his collaborations with Meatloaf and Bonnie Tyler, but there are also a half dozen or so musical acts that I do not particularly enjoy except for the one song of theirs...

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 1 Challenge

The song has to be true to the assigned topic, but the title can be anything you want it to be. In my experience (as a SpinTunes competitor, then a judge, then a competitor) the judges tend to penalize attempts to subvert the assignment regardless of how cute or clever that attempt is. If the first ...

Re: Hanky Code wants to cover your song

Thinking back, I can't remember why I chose High and Higher from your list. It was probably due to the chorus, which I kept pretty faithful to your original. Each of those were good options, I probably just enjoyed High and Higher most out of the three. I'm extremely happy to hear that you liked the...

Good news; I heard back from Breadbox and Bomberanian that they've started editing episode 3. I get the impression that it'll still take a while before they finish it, but I'll mention it here when they post it on YouTube.

Sorry this has taken so long, but the first cover is done - it's Lichen Throat's "High and Higher". And hooray! I scored an excellent guest vocalist for this one! Chumpy is doing the vocals for this number, you lucky lucky bastards. https://soundcloud.com/user-735027159/high-and-higher-lic...

No regerts. Already working on the first cover. In the meantime if anybody wants to cover anything on any of those lists (maybe Hot Pink Halo doing Cassini?), you absolutely should do that.

Hanky Code wants to cover your song

My foray into ‘covering random songs from the archive’ was fun enough, but I get the feeling that half of the original artists will never know about the cover version of their song, and the other half didn’t want their song covered in the first place. I can avoid those drawbacks by simply asking if ...

Re: Covering random songs from the archive

Hey thank you, glad you like it. I was sure that I couldn't pull off roymond's soulfulness so I had to go in a different direction. Also oops, I made a copy/paste error in that post: That is not a stiffed song (assigned but not covered). Empty Wednesday was assigned to me yesterday so it is not elig...

Re: Covering random songs from the archive

As an exercise in simplifying my approach to music production, and to force myself to practice lead vocals and mixing/mastering, Hanky Code took on some of the “stiffed” songs (songs assigned but not covered by whoever requested the assignment). I over-over-overproduce every song I get my paws on, a...
