sounds... dangerous. also, will likely taste like crap. I have to agree. But it'd be so funny to bust out a bottle of my own wine and tell people it's a 2004 Cran-Raspberry. Well, funny to me, anyway. With two kids in the house, tying a balloon to ANYTHING pretty much makes it a target. If that tar...

As expected, I'm fascinated by the conversation here. There's so much to know about this. Truth to tell, I just want a wine that doesn't taste like the feet that crushed the grapes. I've started a batch with the help of Steve over at the <a href="http://www.2ferment.net">Fermentation Stati...

This is a matter to which I've devoted quite a bit of thought recently. I think it's to America's benefit to break the two-party logjam, especially given the base similarities of the prevailing parties. The fundamental problem a three-party system presents is this: The winner would need only 34% of ...

I think the movie death that affected me the strongest was in Saving Private Ryan, when they're making those bombs with socks or whatever. And this one guy goes to throw it at a tank and it goes off prematurely, and he's just <i>gone</i>. Nothing to remember him by, and no time to absorb it. Holy sh...

Jefff, I see your point. And I will say that Kerry addressed his own plans much better in the question that followed (which is amusing, since it was really a very pointed question: Is Bush entirely to blame for loss of jobs? ). Perhaps it is not the candidates that really have me irked, but the natu...

I love Abominominous' Snooter.

No, that's <i>not</i> what I meant. Hehe.

Seriously, I woke up with that song stuck in my head this morning.

My yearly Halloween viewing consists of: It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown The Simpsons Halloween Special (I don't have them all, maybe the first eight or so) The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow (Disney, animated) Dawn Of The Dead (the 70's version. Haven't seen the remake, but I'll probably check it ou...

Here, then, are Kerry's statements immediately following the previously quoted. <i>Being lectured by the president on fiscal responsibility is a little bit like Tony Soprano talking to me about law and order in this country. (LAUGHTER) This president has taken a $5.6 trillion surplus and turned it i...

NOTE: This is merely one SongFighter's opinion. And for that matter, it's subject to change. Let me address your questions in reverse order. The color designation is arbitrary. It really should have nothing to do with your decision of which song title to go for. As for instrumentals... there have be...

See my above post. Kerry would have you believe he is a breath of fresh air, but at least in terms of his campaign approach, he's just the same. A 'litany of complaints' is pretty much all I hear from EITHER of these stumpriders. As far as I'm concerned, Kerry's campaign slogan could be 'Four More Y...

Kerry actually said this last night. In this order. Verbatim. "I want you to notice how the president switched away from jobs and started talking about education principally. Let me come back in one moment to that, but I want to speak for a second, if I can, to what the president said about fis...

The bass player in my band owns a shop called Fermentation Station. I'm going down there on Friday to start a batch of wine to be given away as Christmas gifts. I've never made wine, but if it comes out better than the bottle I drank last night, I'll be money ahead.

The Wine List

Good morning. Last week's football pool was the first I'd ever won. Ever. So I decided to celebrate with a bottle of wine. It wasn't a real big pool, so I didn't have a lot of cash to work with. I headed down to our local supermarket and browsed through the Cabernets. In the end, I picked a reasonab...

Here's the original script, as one really good 3 (4? longer?) hour movie.

There's a few things in that script I wish he'd done.

Hippie isn't so much a yes/no thing, it's a level of degree. The general rule of thumb: Let H = Amount of hippyness <b>Let G = Quality of personal grooming</b> Let L = Liberalness of political leanings Let P = Amount of pot smoked H = L+P / <b>G</b> Now I'm no mathematician, but I think dividing by...

Upon further investigation*: SACRILEGIOUS [From Middle English, from Old French, from Latin sacrilegium, from sacrilegus (one who steals sacred thing), from scar, from sacer (sacred) + -legere (to gather, steal).] The word has no etymological connection to "religious" though its pronunciat...

Sacrilegious. Well, I'll be damned. The link DOES work, and I think I like the way this sounds. It sounds like it belongs on the Godzilla soundtrack or something. It sort of misses the uplifting tone of the original, though. The music, while enjoyable, doesn't seem to suit the sentiment of the song....
