Re: 5/3/15 Simon and Garfunkel

My favorites include "Leaves That Are Green", "Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall", "I Am a Rock", and "America", but the one I like best is "Kathy's Song".

Re: Don't opt out (of doing Unsubscribe reviews!)

Nick Soma : The percussion section is pretty unique sounding. Kinda tablaesque? The vocals might be a bit forward in the mix. Some pitch issues cropping up here and there, especially on higher notes and melismata (thanks wikipedia for the fancy word!). Thanks for your review! The percussion in my s...

Re: 5/2/15 Pink Floyd

I'm gonna break this up into Syd vs Post Syd... I love Syd Barrett and think he deserves his own day! It's hard even to pick one of his Floyd songs... Probably "The Gnome"... Post Syd... Echoes. The Pompeii version is mind blowing. As for Syd, I prefer his solo work (although "Piper&...

Re: 5/2/15 Pink Floyd

Considering the heavy amount of grand multi-part epic stuff they did, this may seem a bit ridiculous, but my pick is "Wot's... Uh the Deal" . It's such a beautiful song. But I love almost everything they did. My dad used to play their albums a lot when I was little, and so I became a Floyd...

Re: Nur Ein X - Round One

Sorry, bearing in mind Paco's "The New Ugly," I couldn't resist editorializing a little when I noticed you two had tied. That's OK, that song of Paco's was one of my favorites from last year's Nur Ein ;) I wasn't entirely clear on whether the "circus" was referring to a literal ...

Re: Nur Ein X - Round One

Big congrats to DJ Ranger Den! :)

My favorite song is Carlo Bruno Jr's, because 1. it has tuba, 2. it opens with the line "We will behave, talk and think like a penguin", and 3. it's hard to beat Carlo's general awesomeness. 8-)

I have to admit I'm not very familiar with his music, but of the songs of him I know, I like "Accidents Will Happen" best.

"Alabama Song", though that's a cover. "The End", of course, that one too. And I also love "The Crystal Ship", which no one has mentioned yet.

For No One is one of my favorites, too, but my absolute favorite Beatles song is Strawberry Fields Forever (yeah, an obvious one). Others I really enjoy include A Day in the Life, Penny Lane, and Mr. Kite. Anything from the Sgt. Pepper / Mystery Tour era.

Re: Nur Ein X - Round One

Just sent mine in. Perhaps subconciously inspired by Mr. Meow's grandiose round zero entry, the chorus of my song consists entirely of the word "Meh".

The circus described in my song is actually less than average. Hope you won't mind that.

Re: Nur Ein X - Round Zero

Nick Soma Unlike certain other judges, I really liked the "chlorinated brine" line. The song has a strong sense of purpose and groove, in spite of most of the instruments sounding obviously fake; you keep it compelling. (note: I hope when you said your "personal challenge" was t...

Re: Nur Ein X - Round Zero

Nick Soma - Chlorinated brine? Her heart is beating louder than a double bass drum? Really, these made it through your first draft? Ah, this is fine, I like it enough (and the bridge is particularly striking in that 80s power pop ballad way) - Lyrically, I resist the urge to shout 'JUST JUMP ALREAD...
