Re: GOM 2014-2015

Oh my. I was on the fence about this, but there's at least one song I'd like to cover on EVERYBODY'S list so far. So yeah, I'm in. :)

Song choices soon.

Re: What Anna Can See

What Anna Can See I don't know Anna But I know a little bit about what Anna can see 'Cause I've been to Worcester And I bet it hasn't changed a lot since 1993 I couldn't wait to get out of there But I guess some important things got left behind I don't know Anna But now the things I think about are ...

Re: The Joke

The Joke by Jim Tyrrell (featuring Holly Furlone) It's a little bit funny what you're gonna say I might have heard it but you're gonna tell me anyway I ought to tell you that it's gonna be new to me You'll never had yourself a better opportunity A clean plate A blank slate So don't wait There ain't ...

Re: Song Fight! Live 2014: Running Commentary

Holly and I stopped at a casino in Maryland on the way home and I won $75 on a slot machine and we got gas and breakfast. Awesome.

I am preparing my pitch for a SF:NH event in 2015. It's a little remote, but I can promise hospitality and excellent maple syrup.

Holly Furlone and I are hitting the road at daybreak on Friday. It'll take us about 10-11 hours probably. Really looking forward to seeing you all.

Re: Songfight Live 2014 venue selection

You would think that I would know the answers at this point, but anyway - a friend of mine is thinking of coming down to catch the show(s). Are there tickets, or a cover charge, or can he just show up and hang out?

Re: Song Fight! Live 2014: August 15/16 - Sign Up for a Set

All right, the rest of my unresolved plans can now resolve themselves around this. I"M IN. We're driving down super early on Friday, getting in for the first show, hanging all day/night Saturday, and driving home Sunday morning. If there's still availability, I'd love to play an acoustic set on...

Re: Songfight: The Rockening

My info is way outdated (I gave up the day job more than three years ago), but I prefer it as a first-edition card. Now I can evolve in later editions, Pokémon-style. Interestingly, I moved from Campton to Plymouth six years ago, and now find myself BACK in Campton. So that one's on the money! Spud:...

Re: Songfight: The Rockening

Ordered! And I don't use my special ability ALL THE TIME, y'know. Tough to catch a bus or order fast food (or pose for game photos) when you're invisible.

Also: thegamecrafter.com may well change my life. I've been sitting on some game prototypes for a long time. Whee!

I, for one, am ridiculously excited about whatever this turns into. I want to host drunken game nights with the SF jukebox running.

Hi. :)

I'm working out a couple conflicts on that weekend. Can't commit yet, but I'm trying to make it happen.
I will say that it's my absolute #1 choice of things to do, if I get to choose.

Hope I get to see your smiling faces!

For what it's worth, I just gave the songs a listen. Votes to Paul Hubert, Grill Shotz, Darrick Lucas, and Lightning Shark. Some good stuff, way too much 'going to eleven'. Not gonna be too critical since I couldn't even get my shit together and submit.

Summer is busy for me, but DC is a possibility. I might be able to put another New England Songfighter or two in the van as well.

For now, you can get one at jimtyrrell.net. Discmakers dropped the ball on the CD Baby distribution package, but they're in the process of making it right.

Jim Tyrrell - True Stories From A Small World

Hi!

I hired Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, REM, Big Star) to record/produce/perform on my latest record. Lots of Song Fight songs, including a few that didn't get finished in time for their respective fights. Give a listen!

Re: An explosive pre-fight thread

*cringes at the thought of 'last minute' optional challenge songs recorded on inferior mediums. I got mine in but I did not get as much time to produce the song as I would have liked. So the production suffers just a little but I think it is a passable work. Looking forward to getting beat by super...

Re: Jim Tyrrell - Live in a lounge nowhere near you!

Well that was crazy. I just spent two weeks recording with Ken Stringfellow (of The Posies, REM, Big Star). The resulting album will be out by the end of the year. The track list reads like a Songfight/Sidefight sampler: A Week Without Ears Crossroads Do It In Public French Toast Horizon Ignorance I...
