I have an exam tomorrow, so I'll stop by and review when that's finished.
ps - I put up a drumcam for my entry. I botched a fill halfway through, but I cut it in the song anyway so it wasn't a big deal.

Niveous - what's the preferred bitrate for nur ein songs? I'd imagine 128-192, but is it an issue if we go higher?

I did, but it didn't change the latency so I abandoned it.AJOwens wrote:Do you have ASIO selected in Reaper?

That was the kicker - I've got it working. Thanks, AJ.AJOwens wrote:3. In the MIDI Hardware Settings, ensure that your MIDI device is enabled in both the upper pane (MIDI inputs to make available) and the lower pane (MIDI outputs to make available).

Re: Does New Sound Card = Less Latency?
Sorry for the slow reply guys, I've been busy with exams and nur ein. And just to be sure, you are connecting some kind of keyboard via a MIDI cable to the Edirol box? What kind of keyboard? It's a Korg X50 - and turns out I'm not actually going through the edirol box - I plugged it straight usb int...

Re: Nur Ein V: Round Zero
Do you guys prefer an artist writing in a varied manner for the sake of each song as an individual entity - or similarly-themed entries for the sake of a cohesive album? I have two songs written for this one, and the song I think is better by itself just doesn't have that Therman sound.

Yeah, I assumed it was straightforward, but I like to be sure of these things. I'm a little obsessive that way.Generic wrote:Seems like a perfectly straightforward challenge to me. *shrug*

This might seem like a dumb question, but ... "audible counting"? What does that encompass?

Re: Does New Sound Card = Less Latency?
Ok, it's becoming clear with every post that I have no idea what a sound card is. I'm already running my usb and xlr cables through my Roland Edirol interface . I downloaded all the drivers on day one, and it works fine, aside from the latency. I've tried reducing the buffer size, but the sound beco...

Re: Does New Sound Card = Less Latency?
So how do you install that? I'm unfamiliar with this territory - can I still use my keyboard to USB connection, or do I have to plug directly into the sound card?AJOwens wrote:I get good results with the M-Audio 2496 (about $100 CDN [or US, come to that!] in Upper Canada; needs a PCI slot).

Does New Sound Card = Less Latency?
The title pretty much sums it up - I'm having serious latency issues with midi in reaper. I've tried ASIO4ALL, I've tried reducing buffers, but it's just not working. Does getting a better sound card reduce latency?
Re: Nur Ein V
That seems a little weird to me. It defies the sadness and damnation that nur ein excretes. I'd vote for same day elimination and title reveal.glennny wrote:The main question I'm asking is if people would mind getting a challenge and title before they know they're still eligible or not?

Re: Reaper to Keyboard Problems
I think you need to set up a send from the recorded MIDI track to your MIDI hardware out, and physically connect your MIDI out to your keyboard MIDI in. Then you need to set up an audio track to receive from your keyboard's audio out. I'm away from my studio for the weekend (in beautiful NYC) but w...

Reaper to Keyboard Problems
I finally figured out how to record midi via usb into reaper - it's actually a lot easier than I thought. I can now quantize, open the piano roll and play back using vstis - but (as can be expected) - the free vstis I downloaded don't sound as nice as the samples on my keyboard. How do I send the mi...
