Re: Sometimes you wish you could just (Unsubscribe prefight)

Woot, another trip across the finish line. My wife's comment after hearing our nearly finished song was "This is really whiney". Heh, yes it is.

Re: Sometimes you wish you could just (Unsubscribe prefight)

How you coming on that song you're working on? Hmm? Got a nice stack of lyrics there? Maybe a nice narrative, with a beginning, middle and end? Nice little tune you've been working on for a week or so? Workin' on it, hmmmmm? Got a compelling melody? Maybe a nice little hook? A bit of a troubled litt...

Re: 4/24/15 Johnny Cash

My Dad played the shit out of Kris Kristofferson in the 70s, and while I didn't like Sunday Morning Coming Down much then, it's now one of my favorite songs, and Johnny's version is great. Folsom Prison Blues would have to be my second choice, as it's a great song and the crowd applauding for 'just ...

I obsessively listened Damn the Torpedoes and to Here Comes my Girl in particular during some of my mopiest early teen years.

Re: Jerkatorium

Ah, interesting. So some might argue it was more of a musical quotation or homage, or just participating in rap's rich history of rhyme biting. I get it, but I sense I don't get it. Heh.

The Abjure! entry this week seems to have lifted a lot of Frontalot's Yellow Lasters. Am I missing something?

Jerkatorium and Inflatable Vegetables swappted on front page

Sorry, I'm an idiot and posted this to the wrong forum, this is the right one.

So currently on the Deep Sub-Reddit fight, the Jerkatorium link points to inflatablevegetables_dsr.mp3, whereas the Vegetables' link points to jerkatorium_dsr.mp3. Godspeed fightmaster.

Re: Will you upvote or downvote...? (Deep Sub-Reddit reviews

I can't quite get all the reviews done in one sitting, so I'll edit this post with more as I listen more. Sunday Guts : Bobbing my head on the first verse, 'collections and hobbies' makes me mile, but for some reason the timing on 'scholar or apprentice' line is awkward. Then the chorus kicks in, an...

Re: 4/4/15 The Ramones

Commando I think is my favorite Ramones tune.

First rule is: the laws of Germany
Second rule is: be nice to mommy
Third real is: don't talk to commies
Fourth rule is: eat kosher salami

Re: Songfights of Faith and Devotion

Nick Soma: "A Pain That I'm Used To" from Playing The Angel (2005) Wow, a DM song that actually rocks, well at least in the chorus. You picked a good song for the grungy treatment. I liked how the music on the first verse was kinda atmospheric, and reminded me a tiny bit of some sounds on...

Re: Songfights of Faith and Devotion

Jim Tyrrell: "A Question of Lust" from Black Celebration (1986) I should start out by saying I hate the song you're covering. It has all of the over-the-top wanky 80s synth drama that makes me remember why I have bad associations with this band, which all came flooding back to me as I lis...

Re: Songfights of Faith and Devotion

My first Song Fight review, I don't think I can review them all in one sitting, so I'm just going to post them as I seriously listen to them. Inflatable Vegetables: "The Meaning of Love" from A Broken Frame (1982) I really like your choice of using a very 80s guitar sound instead of a synt...

Re: 4/18/15 Bruce Springsteen

It's gotta be Spirit in the Night. Song makes the back of my neck tingle. He might be channeling Van Morrison, but whatever. Manfred Mann didn't capture the same feeling in their cover, but I feel like their version of Blinded by the Light is better.
