Re: Original Flava Coverfight - COVID-19 Special Edition

I accidentally chose the first song I listened to. I tried to give some others a chance, but I keep coming back to that first one because it killed me dead. What a song. Thanks crumpart, and thanks for your cover. It has a kind of eerie otherworldliness to it which I love and which I think is impli...

Re: Original Flava Coverfight - COVID-19 Special Edition

I'm in! I hope you like my submission, giftee. I did change the key and the tempo, and the instrumentation. Also the chord progression, and a bit of the melody. Also some of the lyrics. Other than that, it's an entirely faithful cover.

Re: Gift of Music - COVID-19 Special Edition!

Covering each other's songs would definitely be fun. How has it worked in the past - do you just peruse the other person's Song Fight archive and pick a song you like, or does everyone pick a small number of their own songs to choose from? The latter might even the scales for people who don't have m...

Thanks Micah! Something to listen to at work today. Given that it's Spotify I want to cover the recurring Kroger commercial that pops up every 3 or 4 songs.

Re: RIP Adam Schlesinger

I don't even really know his work with Fountains of Wayne (other than the ubiquitous "Stacy's Mom") or his other bands, but his work for movies and TV makes for an impressive resume in its own right - for "That Thing You Do" and "Music and Lyrics" he had the daunting ta...

Re: Spintunes 16 Round 3 - Songs of Wisdom

"The Mary Ellen Carter" by Stan Rogers is not really specific to any of the events listed in the challenge, but it is a great uplifting song that won't make you want to pour bleach in your ears. Or rather, if it does, you and I have nothing more to talk about.

Anyone should feel free to post additional examples. The examples we provided are by no means intended to be specific guides for your entry. That said, I'd encourage everyone to attempt to write a song that you would not be embarrassed to have played at an actual public event of this type. Is this h...
