Re: Chill out, already (Everybody Calm Down reviews)

It's a lot easier for every instrument to stay together if they're all played together by different people who listen to each other. That, my fine purple androgynous dinosaur person, is an opinion, not a fact. From my point of view, it is the opposite that is true... I find it WAY easier to have ti...

Re: Chill out, already (Everybody Calm Down reviews)

nyjm: There is some guitar part in there, clean, I assumed power chords by the pitches I could hear. Yeah, my "reviews" were first impressions as I listened... just take it. Take it, take it like a man with a clean guitar tone that didn't work for me. I mean, if you don't HAVE a clean guit...

Re: Chill out, already (Everybody Calm Down reviews)

To celebrate the fact that for some odd reason I wrote some stuff for this fight last night at around 4 pm... and finished it around 11-12 whatever it was... AND we’re mere days away from the start of the regular season... I present my reviewing format for this fight: I shall provide initial, first ...

Re: Death Magnetic

I was until they went platinum. Once they shifted their sound to "urban folk-jazz performance art" I had to move on.

Re: Death Magnetic

Barely. I can drum again now that my ankle is fully healed...well, I have been for a few months actually, but I got no studio access that is anyway or anything significant, or at least able to meet deadlines (cause sf is all about them dead lines) as my job SUDDENLY became a freakin camp job.= back ...

Death Magnetic

Fucking awesome album. Yeah, yah, there are technical issues for the nerds to get hung up on. Yeah, the snare sound was sounding weak to me on first listen (no more though). Yes, I could do without Unforgiven 3 (1 or 2 for that matter). But I listen to this and wonder why the hell the world had to e...

Re: a digital 4-track the size of a nintendo ds

I use mine all the time. I used it today to learn tunes while riding on a a three hour ferry trip. The quick consumption of batteries is irritating, but it's pretty cool as a guitar practice thing-ga-ma-jig.

Re: April fools, 2008

I don't usually do the April fools thing.. but I couldnt' stop the other day for some reason... I told my wife's best friend I got an awesome job opportunity to run a plant in a remote, seaplane access only location; and asked if she wanted to move there to be our housekeeper...no people, no town (s...

I hear ya though... what is really the issue is how wrong tabs stay up for ever! I'm no tab machine, and I appreciate people who take the time to do their best to explain what they've heard... But!! I do remember this one tab for Foo Fighter's I'll Stick around and it was sooo wrong... (it's not up ...

For me... I like to listen to tunes that make me feel recklessly mobile... if something get's my head bopping... and I start getting all excited...not horny excited, but close, only horny for riffs... that's rockin out. Then I just try to play that way... no thinking, just playing, rockin out. Nothi...

There is more than one way to win a SongFight!.* *applies in real life as well. That was awesome. For the record, I have had the chance to jam with the Octothorpe, and it was AMAZING... not for musical genius reasons, although I truly can say that once I played with Spud I understood things ...

I was working a long shift in a kitchen. We were short staffed, so I had worked 3 weeks straight, and on the day in question (aug 17!) I said "fuck it" I'm going out! So, I went to the bar... in the same place I worked. I rarely went out. hah. She was playing pool with two friends, saw me ...

sorry, i thought you meant that you were going to something different. when you said playoffs i imagined you were going to do all kinds of wild cards and possibly bowl games and such. Well, you're kinda doing the bracket basketball thing, which is a bit different than my hockey style playoffs... ju...

just to be difficult, i'm implementing a bracket system to determine my vote. Well, I suppose I WON'T do a playoff then, and I'll have to go with the fruit baskets... although, I do think you'll need at LEAST a best of five for your finals man. To keep the suspense going... heeheh. WAGES: thanks ma...

huh...the drums sound excellent. Oh sorry, I didn't mean that they didn't sound good!! I meant that, as a drummer, I prefer live drums for playing. Specifically for cymbals and MOST important, hi hat. sometimes, I mic up the cymbals and hihats and use electronic pads for the drums... electonic kits...

leaf and twig - this is more primus than bungle, and i really wish that were reversed. great recording, again, even if the vocals are primus-style annoying to me. how do you record?
