Kamakura - I thought you said "my nuts are on fire", though I dunno if "pants" is much better. Your song's put together well enough, and I totally got the Dylan vibe that others mentioned. It would sound tighter if you brought the drums up, and EQ'd your voice a bit further back...

When reviewing, I use Shining Like a National Guitar as an aural palette cleanser, like sonic ginger between pieces of Songfight sushi.

god I hate the idea of paying for doing a cover. Of course, if I ever covered something I guarantee it would be unrecognizable. Ironically, that might preclude you from doing the cover! My old band wanted to record Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but we couldn't get permission because it would be u...

should cover artists pay a royalty for a tune? Like bzl said, for live performances, it's the venue's responsibility. But if you want to record a cover version and sell it (or even give it away), you need a license yourself. the gift of music and ideas versus my job sucks, and why does that bastard...

If I remember correctly SOCAN lets you make copies of any music, whether you own a copy or not, which means downloading is OK. Not just SOCAN: The Canadian government hasn't ratified the WIPO digital media treaties (the same legislation that begat the filthy DMCA). This means Internet file sharing ...

I would have thought that a mobile disco operator would have to pay royalties to the artists/publishers whatever each time they play a track. Technically, they're supposed to (though it's done through licensing organizations, rather than directly with the publishers.) I like the way it works in Can...

Re: Moral dillema....

I could use the argument that I actually promote the artists therefore I should be entitled to download. Similarly, the artists could use the argument that you deprived them of a sale by not purchasing the disc... I don't think anyone gets a free pass when it comes to copyright law (other than the ...

In the heavy section, I see a lot of these bad boys. (Capped in Sonar with The Befores MP3 loaded.) I know the shape well 'cause I often include it in my own songs. :-o

Lo these 9 days later, I continue to hum the refrain from Hostess Mostess's entry. It warrants noting that I cast my vote accordingly.

& the delicate flowers It would have worked great in 64K. And while it's totally my kind of song, this take didn't grab me, I think 'cause of the production. The chick-shake was loud, and everything was panned center, so there was no real separation. More songs in the style are encouraged, thou...

Oh man, the bridge is straight out of a Van Halen song (I can't remember it's name, but the lyrics are like "she's flying, i'm flying" somethin' somethin'...) She's blinding, I'm flying, Right behind the rear-view mirror now. Got the feeling, power steering, Pistons popping, ain't no stop...

I think you should revel in it! You guys won the SongFight, and the unpublicized BassPlayerWithTheMostFriendsOneDegreeRemoved fight.

(Also: it is a catchy song!)

If Josh Woodward isn't actually Deshead He's not. Though I think his songs are great. Maybe we had the same guitar teacher. Or, if that's just the way his voice sounds, then I have to say that the super accurate pitch and fake sounding vibrato is really disturbing. "disturbing" in a good ...
