What a frontman!
I saw his solo band in 1999. That guy was awesome.
I'm sad I won't see him again.

Holy crap. That is so out of the blue, and he was still so young. :( It's a loss for rock music. I never saw him or any of his bands, sadly, but I loved Soundgarden "back in the day". He was an amazing singer.

Why do all of my musical heros die tragically?

Very tragic. Rock and roll lost one of it's best vocalists.

The official report is that it's a "suicide by hanging" but given the timing and so on I can't help but wonder if that's the usual media-friendly way of talking about autoerotic asphyxiation. Whatever led to his death, it's a shame, and it's sad that he didn't have whatever support he needed to prevent it from happening.

The "black sun" sculpture at Volunteer Park (supposedly the inspiration for Soundgarden's biggest hit) has a tribute to him, which I happened to stumble upon today. There were quite a few mourners and many people left flowers.
