Dumb Random Song Parodies

Post by Lunkhead »

Erin and I are constantly making up dumb random song parody snippets about whatever is going on. Does anybody else do that?

For example, Erin was eating a pluot, so I sang:

Pit's your thang
Pluot you wanna do
I can't tell you
How to eat stone fruit

Allll the time, but not always specific situations. I was noodling on my bass earlier and got to playing generic Staind sounding stuff with lyrics like

I'm soooo saddddddddddd
My life is baaaaadddddd
So much self pitttyyyyy
Lifffeee is so shitttyyyy

Y'know, stuff like that.

All the time.

The other fun one is if I am trying to cajole the kids into doing something I will make up a song about it and sing it until they cave.

Come on it’s time to clean the pool filter,
Come on it’s time to clean the pool filter,
Come on it’s time to clean the pool filter,
We gotta clean that filter right now.

Ooooo, we gotta hose it down
Yeah, turn it back around

Come on it’s time to clean the pool filter,
We gotta clean that filter right now.

Oh god I sing my day ALL THE TIME. I also have a few classics for my cats, like the "I already fed you" song which goes

I already fed you, but you ate it all
I already fed you, but you ate it all
I already fed you, but you ate it all
I already fed you and you're turning into a ball

and then the hit single "dry food day"

Today is not a wet food day
It is just a dry food day
Why don't you please go and play and
Maybe you'll get a treat

A lot of these songs end up turning into Novembeat or game soundtrack songs.

Then there's also the pain song, which I almost performed at SF Madison but ended up doing a simplified version for my set's soundcheck:

I am in a lot of pain right
Now, I’m in a lot of pain right
Now, I’m in a lot of pain right
Now, I am in so much pain

I am in a lot of pain right
now, And I don’t know quite what to
Do about the pain I’m in right
Now, But I’m in so much pain

I am in a lot of pain right
Now

I am in a lot of pain and
I Just want to play guitar right
Now Because I want to know if
I Can play a song for you

I just want to play a song for
you But I don’t know quite what to
do About the pain I’m in so
I’ll Just play a song for you

I am in a lot of fucking
pain

I am in a lot of pain right
now But I just want to play gui-
tar, So I am playing the gui-
tar, Through all the fucking pain

I am in a lot of pain right
now, And I have come so very
far, So I can be in pain so
I can play guitar for you

I am in a lot of pain right
now, oh
I am in a lot of pain right
now

I am in a lot of pain right
now I am in so much pain but
I just want to play a song for
you

Not to be a killjoy but I was talking about "parodies", like, changing the words of an existing song and singing the new words to the song's existing melody, rather than just making up songs to sing about stuff. :)

Oh, my example was blatantly to the tune of Mudshovel.

Aha, I was thrown off by the "playing generic Staind sounding stuff" comment. I'm not very familiar with Staind's songs.

Lol they're heavy and generically angsty and very, very late 90s. You're not missing much. Though admittedly I could have typed that better...other than that specific one, I regularly make fun of that era while goofing off

I've re-lyriced lots of (parts of) songs to make them about Raving Rabbids... because of reasons.

Yeah, if I'm around the house singing, I'll include my son's name (or really just silly nicknames for him) in the lyrics of said songs whenever possible.
