Howdy folks...

Post by Niveous »

Hey everyone. Long time no post.

It's been a wild ride lately. New job that ended being harder and more stressful but less toxic. Lost my dad to the great global bastard. Super tired, super stressed. Somehow dropped a new album. Crazy times.

Finally I'm beginning to see a little light at the end of the tunnel and I can breath again. Just in time for Nur Ein (thank goodness). But before that, I wanna do some catch up. So, I've got some questions.

What would you say are 5 SF songs from the last two years that I definitely need to check out?

Who are the best new rookies on the scene of the past two years?

Who has been your favorite SF artist recently?

Give me the low-down.

Dude. Wonderful to hear from you.

I'm sending you hugs.

You should definitely check out Phlub's (not quite SF!) Spintunes/GearFight crossover - Threads.....

Phlub has a song about Threads, the feel-bad movie of the 20th Century? I'll have to check this out.

Hi Niv, glad to see you back and looking forward to Nur Ein.

I don't know for sure these are new but over the past two years I've been fighting consistently, I have enjoyed Duncan Martin, Heid, King Arthur, Pannacotta Army, and Night Sky quite a bit. There was a track by Firebear the other fight, I think it was "Strike Me Down" that really got my attention.

Lol, I'm glad to hear that track made an impression on people!

Threads is the most miserably depressing feel-bad movie I've ever seen, and therefore condensing the plot into a 7 minute epic was only the natural thing to do.

Recently, I've really enjoyed the last two Prill Phuner songs.

Hmm, favorite newer folks from the past couple years? Well, not a specific artist per se, but the Instant Bands have been a great addition and change to the scene. Brother Baker/Firebear hopped on the scene and have been killing it. See-Man-Ski is pretty reliably good, I think he's within the past two years? My Social Uniform is a pop wizard, apparently.

My favorite SongFight track of the past two years is still Four Corners by Berkeley Social Scene.

 Wow! I mixed and played drums on that track! I still question the bridge, though.

Agreed on See-Man-Ski. Been a fave of mine.

It's the melody and that pensive "I'm looking for the answer" with that melody drop from the seventh to the sixth. Scratches the same itch as the first couple Broadcast albums - and I sure love those vibes. :)

I was proud to lose to it, though my funky rap about crunk aliens getting arrested for a DUI wasn't a likely candidate to win anyway :p
