Just been watching Gilly and my fellow Queenslander Matty Hayen destroying the old enemy in the pyjama game - thought it may be time to get a thread ready for the long hot Northern summer ahead.

If my memory serves me well, I don't think the Poms have won anything of note since Agincourt. Now, I know you fancy yourselves this time around - I just hope you can dig into that old Nelson-Wellington-Botham spirit and actually give us a decent game for a change.

I hope your boys can rise to the standards of those great British sporting heroes - like Tuffnall, Henman and Eddie the Eagle.

Probably because we were too busy sending our extraneous riff raff to the new colony (so sorry, your home).

Its them Ashes time again...excellent

I love cricket..
I mean how cool is a sport that actually stops for a tea break

seriuosly an official tea break in the middle, you dont get that any where else

best thing about cricket .... watching it in bed..wat a great way to spend a day ... you can doze of for a little and then when you wake back up you usually aint missed much, maybe a couple of runs on the board. Anything dramatic, like a wicket will be replayed at the next lull in play.

And then theres the wonder of the game itself---its like a game of chess in some ways, all tactics and position.....silly point or third man or both but maybe no long leg or deep cover. And at the same time its a truly individual sport of man against man..batsman against bowler...

A little crowing at lunch on day one never harmed anyone, and is better than possible tears on day five.

I think that maybe God was just teasing England by making it look like the last two days might get rained out. That God, always with the wacky sense of humor, you know. Good thing y'all only needed like twenty minutes of day four to wrap up the last five wickets.
