Not under the name <a href="http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... >"Gert"</a> they haven't.
They submitted one this week to the "I hate you" fight.

Ah HA!

I was wondering how often I would need to update this list to keep it current. Looks like I can erase Gert from the list despite the outcome of the "I Hate You" fight. Thanks for the heads up, Erik (and Jack)

Maybe I need two lists...

The list above is meant to represent all of the listed artists in the archive that have one song, and a 100% victory rating.

Granted, some of these people would stick around to songfight in other bands. I am part of 3 of the one hit wonders alone.

I will look into this, maybe.

Some of these hardly count, such as Madi at 7 vs. Madi at 8, or the JBB with Patrick Clayton, or Leablit. Another interesting list would be bands who have won and then completely disappeared. Also, you should eliminate those songs than won through vote flooding, such as 750 Flat Toothpicks.

Casey Kasem did an American Top 40 special show on this very topic once. He called it something like "All Time Greatest Disappearing Acts". It was probably aired in the mid 70's. I remember it. Does anyone besides me know what the #1 song was? I even remember the #2 song.

Nope, though excellent guess. I think that song may have come after he broadcast the list, and it might be the number one now. Not only was the degree of disappearance a factor in his list, but the size of the hit was too. So in order for it to be high on his list, it had to be an enormous hit, followed by a complete disappearance. The champion was, like Debby Boone, a multi-week number one hit, and the artist was never heard from again. 1969. It was a duo.

Debby Boone may not qualify because she is Pat Boone's daughter and Rosemary Clooney's daughter in law.

i would have thought "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye," but that's not a duo. could be "in the year 2525."

Hmm, your last clue seems to suggest that Bill is right. But are you sure Zager and Evans wasn't #3? With "Let me go, Lover" by Joan Weber at #1?

Bill, you are correct, it is In the Year 2525. Number one for 6 weeks, never heard from before or since.

Number 2, I'll just tell you, was Dominique by the Singing Nun.

funny thing is that i didn't realize 2525 was that popular. of course, it was somewhat before my time :)
but it did seem like the most likely candidate!

ps the casey kasem show itself was almost before my time, july 1973 according to a website i found. didn't say who the winner was tho :)

Again. This is strictly meant to be a list of artist names you could check out in the archive with one song submitted, 100% win rate. Regardless of whether it should count or not, this is how it is.

Anyone else who wishes to break it down further than this is welcome to do so.

7/29/05 - Edited to include the new victory by Ken's Super Choctothorpe, the Bear n' Rachael.
Initial post edited to clarify what the purpose of the list is.

No worries, sir.

Those other lists would be pretty cool to check out as well, of course. People are welcome to use this list to make them.

Now it's just a matter of keeping this stinking thing up to date. I may have bit off more than I can chew with that. We will see.

Speaking of biting off more than you can chew, whatever happened to your reviews of every single fight in history, huh???? Or your song-per-day thing???

HUH???

Ambition can be a terrible thing. Ants (Invisible) was going to submit a short song every week. See how long THAT lasted.

Leaf asked me this VERY QUESTION recently.

I make no promises, but I still intend to finish both of those projects at some point. I am just famous for having too many things going on at once, and some of those projects suffer from time to time. Especially when I get bored with them.

Also:

1. I need to know the archive better to pick 365 favorites.
2. I need to give myself time to listen to that entire archive also.

So, they will probably both get done around the same time, which is to say... a long time from now when I get back to them :)

ROCK!
