That's an awesome song Ken. The video's great too, it almost makes up for the fact you put a damn kazoo in the song.

It's not a kazoo, it's from my Pocket Operator PO-20 Arcade. We wrote that song for Nur Ein and the mandatory challenge for the round was to use chiptunes or computer sounds.

I somehow forgot to post my "Deep Sub-Reddit" video from Song Fight Live last year on its own. Oops! Here it is if anybody cares.

I really like this. Is this something I should be able to work out on my apple? Or are you doing something fancy?

I want videos for my released songs but video is not my thing. I love the simplicity of this - but not sure if I know how to do it.

I used Adobe Premiere Elements ( https://www.adobe.com/products/premiere-elements.html ), which I bought. I don't think it's possible to do grid videos like that in iMovie very easily but I could be wrong. (There is a way supposedly but it sounds amazingly time consuming.) I also used Handbrake ( https://handbrake.fr/ ), a free video processing app, so that I could convert all the videos to actual real constant 30 frames per second. I took the videos on my phone and apparently our phones lie when they say they make "30fps" videos. They actually shoot variable frame rate video that's "up to" or "average" 30fps or something. Converting them to constant frame rate made it so that when I got the beginning of a clip synced to the audio, the clip stayed synced to the audio the whole way through. Syncing the clip to audio is annoying and fiddly and sometimes you just plain can't sync perfectly no matter what you do. I think using a higher frame rate (e.g. 60fps) can make that work better? I don't know for sure though. With Premiere I couldn't figure out a way to manually drag the different video "tracks" into position and resize them. Instead I had to do some slight math and manually type in their top left pixel position and a resizing percentage to get them all lined up.

I found someone on Fiverr.com who did this for us. I told him the song was about someone trying to forget, kind of like Total Recall. They had all the anime knowledge and did the editing. I think it came out really good too.

Yeah iMovie is very limited in the sorts of layering you can do, and it's very adamant about not making it easy to synchronize audio and video separately. Premiere Elements is a pretty decent basic video editor. I've heard a lot of people (especially tech YouTubers) are switching to DaVinci Resolve which is free for personal use, but I bought Final Cut Pro so I'm still banging my head against that out of sheer stubbornness (although I might try DaVinci for my set this year).

My stepdaughter, who is a professional video editor, recommended DaVinci Resolve, so I am obediently using it for my set. It’s working extremely well, and the learning curve has been pretty gentle. I just started playing with it Saturday and had successfully composited multiple green-screen shots of myself by Sunday night. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube, and I found it really easy to get started.

Omg, this is so good, you guys are at the top of your game on this one! I missed this the first time around, and I'm really glad you guys made a video for it. I went back and and read the reviews, and I have to disagree with the sentiment about the solo, I think it sounds great, fits well, and gets me amped everytime hear it. Great work!

Hey, thanks for the kind words! WRT what the reviews said at the time, Sam remixed it made the the guitar solo sound less harsh.
