:P SONGHOLE IS DYING :P

Set up live gigs with each other, announce gigs you're playing around the country or whatever, talk about how the show went, post links to recordings, etc.

:P SONGHOLE IS DYING :P

Post by blue »

I can't afford time or money to keep songhole any more. It'll be dead at the end of this month, so please clean your stuff off. Also I guess this means the radio streams are going offline.

Thanks,

train me on how to set up the songfight stream and I think I can sneak that stream onto one of our servers here at work...if not at least temperarily... I don't plan on being in Florida another full year. It could probably still run here while I was gone though... i don't know all the symantecs of how it works currently.

Wow. I must concur and add my thanks to all the hosting you've done for me and everyone here at songfight. Would you rather us all just paypal you $20 towards keeping it going?

Yeah... if a fee was required, I'd rather pay you than Telus!!

... if this is an option you'd like to consider, let me know... I'd be in.

Can you outsource the running of songhole to India, and then pack it with wangdrug banners so it pays for itself?

Somesongs is administered by Jeff Fal...but the somesongs radio stream is seperate from that as it is on the songhole server. :-( So somesongs radio will be affected. (NOT somesongs.com)

It looks partly like he doesn't have time to administrate.

There might be alternatives ... which is why I'm trying to throw in my $0.02

I don't want to step on toes or suggest anything that might not be true...but lets keep this thread alive in anticipation for more ideas such as this.

...I dig... and I'm serious... I'd rather pay ANYONE in songfightland for space than pay telus... it just makes more sense. (cents?)

I would too. I'd much rather give my $10/month to someone around here, especially cause they probably would be sympathetic to the amateur musician's need of lots of storage space and very little bandwidth :P

I know Josh Woodward does hosting too. Does anyone else?

I'm currently not allowed to or else I'd consider it.

Holy Crap, saddest day of my life. Not only do I have a brand-new Puce webpage sitting on my PC waiting to be uploaded, the idea of working without Somesongs radio is depressing. I don't know what I'll find to replace Glenn's friendly in-between songs banter, or Abjure's randy covers that get me called into meetings with my boss.

But, if there's some way (monetarily, volunteering) to keep Songhole alive... well, I won't get my hopes up.

Blue does seem extra busy...
Can you think of the last time that he verbally waxed the ass of a noob?

Yah, I've got a boatload of web space that I'm not using either; if it comes down to just needing some space (probably it's not that simple) I can share some.

This is sad, but I am really happy that Blue has been generous enough to give me free webspace this whole time. It is a very large part of the reason why people have been able to hear all of these songs I have been doing.

I am backing up everything from songhole on to CD if I have enough time to do that before it's all over. So far I have backed up all of my site, Dr. Worm's site, Duboce Triangle's site, and Frontalittle's site is downloading as I type this.

Thank you for allowing this for so long, Blue :)

EDIT: WOW! Space can add up, I had close to TWO gigs of stuff on songhole myself. Of course that probably included some wavs of performances to send to collaborators too.

ROCK!

Very strange - I could have sworn I posted here earlier. Either I forgot to 'submit' or it got deleted. I can't imagine why the latter would be, so I'll post it again (or near enough)

'I for one am glad that this thread proves Blue is still alive, whatever his current situation. I miss ya, and while it's a big shame songhole is going down, it would be an even bigger one if you disappeared from the boards or SOS disappeared from the fights.'

If this disappears again, I shall stop reposting it, promise.
