Looking For A Touring Keyboardist

Set up live gigs with each other, announce gigs you're playing around the country or whatever, talk about how the show went, post links to recordings, etc.

Looking For A Touring Keyboardist

Post by mc_frontalot »

Hi folks! Long time, no see.

I'm in the new yorks slaving away on the third Frontalot album and also
planning for the late-fall tour. We're out for six weeks from Nov 1 through
Dec 13 (hitting SF right in the middle there) and Gaby (my keyboardist) can only join us for
the first half of the tour.

So I'm trying to find a surrogate Gaby who would come with us after SF, for
19 shows starting in Los Angeles, on through the southwest and south, down
into Fla, up the eastern seaboard, and back to NY. (then they could go
home). Here's what I'm looking for:

vital
> great funk keyboardist
> interested in nerdcore (by interested I mean "not baffled by")
> avail to drive with us Nov 19 through Dec 13
> brilliant enough to pick up the hour-long set alone, from recordings and
Gaby's notes
> and to lock it in with us in a single rehearsal in San Francisco Nov 20th

optional
> sings too
> comfortable taking occasional shifts piloting tour van
> would like to end up in NY in mid Dec so I don't have to fly him or her
back home

We tour in relative comfort in a full-size Econoline w/ trailer. We tend to
stay in motels, but we are occasionally put up by friends. The gig pays
roughly the going rate for professional New York musicians plus a small per
diem. I can discuss specifics with anyone who's interested.

If you know anyone who fits the bill, PLEASE help us out by sending this to
them. If they don't know the band, here's some yootoobs that show what Gaby
does, and one that is a trailer for a documentary someone made about us a
couple years ago (which might be showing in a bunch of cities in conjunction
with this tour, which will be fun).

Thanks much,

(PS when this whole swapping-keyboardists idea crashes and burns, I'll start
looking for a NY person to come with us for the whole six weeks, so I may
bug you again)

And you know what else? It would be about a hundred times smarter for us to use someone who's northeast based, so we could have proper rehearsals ahead of the tour launch. Then I would fly them out to SF halfway through the tour, and they'd end up back at home in NY.

Man, if it was a surrogate bass player you were looking for I would be right at home. Keyboards were the first instrument that I ever taught myself how to play, and it is the instrument I am the LEAST comfortable playing by far. I'm not 1/4 the keyboardist that Gaby is, but I'd love to improve upon that.

So, basically it's like this: I'm not sure that I would have the chops to keep up, and getting the time away from work would be interesting, but my interest is piqued. I'd like to know more so I could communicate the logistics to my wife, and see if I would even be a feasible choice for this. It seems like touring with y'all would be a blast, though.

ROCK!
