You have suggested two possible solutions (remove it, put in a dummy file) without explaining what the problem is.

Ah, sorry. The problem as I see it is that only this one entry out of the nearly 10,000 in the entire archive has 'none' for it's URL. It seems like an abnormality in the data. I think it would be preferable to have a URL for every entry. I also don't see this abnormality adding value that outweighs the complications it introduces for anybody who wants to use the archive data (the jukebox, MG's iOS app, etc.). I don't think Poppetshuw will notice or mind if they are removed, frankly.

What DID happen to that entry, anyway? Was it just lost, or was it one of those "look at me I'm on the Internet submitting bullshit" things?

As I recall, the entire fight was lost, but YOU had it backed up, with the exception of that entry, for some reason. Was that a MeanWhile fight?

Poison Pill was a Meanwhile fight IIRC. I think it might have been either the first or the last one, actually. Can't quite remember. RxW had a beautiful song in that one.

It was definitely a Meanwhile yeah.

Someday I should rescue an old computer of mine from my sister, as it has a hard drive in it which might have a bunch of the missing Song Fight entries (including Driveway Seed). But it probably doesn't.

I am still unconvinced that it can't be written around. These are the kind of historical nuggets that make history worth caring about.

Time once again for Spud's favorite thing, where I find some random bizarre stuff in the archive.

So, I'm sitting around, I hit "random song" on the Jukebox, I wind up here:

http://sfjukebox.org/songs/history_of_m ... _heart/Tig

I try to play the song, but I get an error, something wrong with the mp3 URL. So I try the URL for the mp3:

http://www.songfight.org/music/history_ ... _hombh.mp3

I get a 404. That's weird. So I go to the archive page for "History of My Broken Heart":

http://www.songfight.org/songpage.php?k ... oken_heart

Weird, no "Tig". Must have been removed or something...? So I go to the Tig page on the Jukebox and see that they only entered (maybe) that one fight. Then I try their archive page, expecting it to be 404 also:

http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... te&key=Tig

Huh, weird, it works and shows Tig has one entry, "History of My Broken Heart". So I click the speaker icon to listen to the song, but I wind up at the same 404 MP3 link.

Wha?

The file is missing from the archive but I have it in my local mirror. There doesn't seem to be anything amiss with it (it's not a commercial mp3 and it's definitely written for that title) so I'll reupload it.

What is up with the "That's the Joke" fight data? It looks like somehow "Crumpelstiltskin" got changed to "Crumplestiltskin" when the data moved from current to archived. Here are the archive pages, with the latter spelling:

http://www.songfight.org/songpage.php?k ... s_the_joke
http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... rtkey=date

And here is the review thread where nearly everyone used the former spelling:

http://www.songfight.net/forums/viewtop ... f=3&t=9166

The Jukebox wound up with both. I'm going to consolidate on just "Crumpelstiltskin", so y'all may want to do that as well. You can do a quick Google check if you feel the need to confirm that it should be spelled that way.

Also the link for the glennny mp3 for "That's the Joke" appears to be wrong:

http://www.songfight.org/music/thats_th ... ny_ttj.mp3

(two n's, when it should have three)

In addition to having the wrong file name, there is no file there, I get 404.

I also tried this URL with the right file name, also 404:

http://www.songfight.org/music/thats_th ... ny_ttj.mp3

So his entry seems to have disappeared.

Actually, looking through the emails for the fight, the only entry that I can find from Glen has only ONE 'g', and that's G.U.N.S. Perhaps the artist can help out here...

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that thread. So I need to just remove the Glennny entry from "That's The Joke" in the jukebox it sounds like. Thanks!

So the Tig "History Of My Broken Heart" mp3 link now works. Something still seems a little weird though. There is no Tig on the fight page:

http://www.songfight.org/songpage.php?k ... oken_heart

Even though there is a Tig artist page indicating that Tig entered "History Of My Broken Heart":

http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... te&key=Tig

That seems inconsistent.

It seems like there is still the issue of "Crumplestiltskin" being used in the archive, even though, judging from the review thread posts that look like they were made using JB's review form generator, it was originally spelled "Crumpelstiltskin":

Luke Henley's Web site link is broken because in the data file it doesn't start with "http://", so the archive page is turning it into a relative link:

http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... uke+Henley

Page is using this:

http://www.songfight.org/www.myspace.com/theredballoon

Should be:

http://www.myspace.com/theredballoon

You can thank Googlebot for finding this one. ;)

This is also a problem in the "hoopshank" profile, although, that profile is totally weird anyway because there is no artist in the archive for it...?

Looks like something is amiss with the last two "See Also" items on Carol Cleveland Sings's profile page:

http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... land+Sings

The last two items are:

The Showroom feat. Carol Cleveland Sings, the
Co-Mandies and Forty Second Songs

Neither of those exist as artists in the archive, however, if you combine both lines into one:

The Showroom feat. Carol Cleveland Sings, the Co-Mandies and Forty Second Songs

You do indeed wind up with a legit artist in the archive:

http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... cond+Songs

So probably those last two items should be combined into one.

This is another one that Googlebot found on the jukebox.

I just got sick of how a bunch of older fights had spaces and %20s in filenames/URLs/etc. and fixed that shit in the archive. Let me know if anything broke (that wasn't broken already).

i.e. you'll want to reconcile your data, lunkhead
