Aquaman

Post by Lunkhead »

Holy cow, was this dumb. Also long. Also, WTF???? This was seriously the most over stuffed bloated epic turd I've ever seen. It was like, a super hero movie, comic book fan boy service, Game of Thrones, horror, sci-fi, romance, Arthurian legend, a video game, and 50 million other things all crammed in. Some of the scenes, the sheer number of moving entities in the field of view is literally brain melting. I guess kudos to the filmmakers for being so gonzo but wow, oof, I still somehow got bored no matter how much crap they threw at me.

D (for dumb)

I don't even remember most of the storyline. All that's left is a vague memory of the plot, and the main thing I remember is that the character arc felt very formulaic (though "Alita - Battle Angel" which I watched more recently did this even worse and with more stupid demographic targeting). It looked nice at least, I guess, and with this kind of movie I don't really expect a lot of storytelling or even depth in the first place, so I wasn't exactly disappointed.

I thought it was fun, especially when it turned into a treasure hunt movie. After a bunch of comic book movies that take themselves Very Seriously recently I enjoyed seeing one where an octopus played the drums and Dolph Lundgren was the king of the fish people.

This movie is sounding increasingly relevant to my interests.

(pushes glasses up the bridge of his nose)

Um, _actually_, Djmion Honsou voiced the king of the fish people. Dolph Lundgren is king of Xebel.
