may 8th

I'm going on a man date with my best friend to this movie. It's sad that in my group of nerdy friends, only two of us will be able to appreciate the utter ridiculousness this movie will bring. But I am excited to see syler as spock.

Just saw it. I recommend it more than any other movie. Surpassed my expectations and Star Wars as my favourite movie. There are no words to describe this movie besides kapla. Go see it. Now.

I'm glad J.J. is a Star Wars geek... because Trek needs more Star Wars. I haven't seen this yet, but it has Simon Pegg so it must be halfway decent. Other than the "alien" (?) with tattoos on his face... Wtf is up with that? Lame. Mike Tyson?

Yeah, they kind of screwed up the romulan look but they had to modernize some things, I guess.

I wanted to like it, but the villain was ridiculous, the dialog felt like fanservice, and the constant flashing and lens flares and constantly-loud MAXIMUM SONIC IMPACT soundtrack gave me a huge headache. Plus, the characters made me think of this.

I liked it. It had some weak points, but it was fun.
I'm not very critical of movies, for the most part.

Uhura was HOT. :o

</fanboy> But seriously, this movie was pretty good. I was not at all disappointed that I wasted 1.4GB of bandwidth on bittorrent downloading it.

I think the first thing I said at the end of this movie was: Why is Billy Corgan so mad?

But I really liked this movie a lot. I was hooked right away and really enjoyed the ride.

The Romulan was supposed to be TNG-era, but TNG-era Romulans were exceedingly interested in maintaining an appearance of perfection and conformity and oh god I am such a nerd

lol. To paraphrase, Despite all his rage, he's still just a rat in a cage.

I think it's the best thing to happen to Star Trek in years: An accessible action film which sweeps all inconsistencies with 40 years of plots under the rug with a big ol' cop out for the fans. Not that that's a bad thing. I loved it.

I thought this was a great movie - solid acting, a plot I could follow (even though I know nothing about Star Trek) and amazing special effects. What more could I ask for?

the alternate universe thing was a good idea for them, i think - it allows them a lot of space for more stories. very clever. also, it got leonard nimoy in there which was excellent.
