True Grit

Post by Billy's Little Trip »

Damn, it was going along so good and had me enthralled....yes, enthralled. Then, BAM it's like the producer said, oops, no more money left in the budget, end this sucker now! I hate when they do that. Just, end a movie so fast with a huge gap of quick vague explanations of what happened between now and the last scene. Ugh! I never saw the original, so maybe that's how it was.

But I do love watching Jeff Bridges act. The man has his craft down to a T. Matt Damon was good too. And that girl, I've never seen her before, but damn, she was great. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of her in the future.

What do you mean? I watched it a week ago and thought it was solid. I had seen the original years ago, and it reminded me how good that was too. Not a Duke fan, still a great role and movie. I thought the acting here was decent, esp. Bridges and Brolin, and production good. I was getting all chokey near the end with the horse and him carrying her. C'mon! Didn't you?

Yeah, that got me chokey too. And yes, it was solid. But ended so fast. But it went from (spoiler alert) Rooster carrying her to her as an old lady. I want to see all that in between part.

Hm. I see. I didn't have a problem with it, as really, her tale of avenging her father came to an end. I liked the bittersweet ending, it made you mentally picture his and hers tales and fill in the gaps. I hear what yer sayin' there, bro, but dug it. Check the original someday, I'd like to re-visit it now as well.

I think I will watch the original. I've only seen parts here and there through the years.

Why not read the book? The new movie was based on the book... not the original movie.
