You are wanting a specific songfighter to do a covers album? Who would that be?

Ha! My bad English - should read "Indeed there are enough here that make me hope to get that person, that if I got them all, it would make a covers album ..."

i thought about putting that one in, but decided that no one could ever match the perfection of the original. Now I'm curious to see if someone tries.
I been trying to get His Name is Dan to do the song for months now, using the voice he used on "The Martians are...". I hope someone picks to do this song. It's an old school classic. Good choice, PFM

ok so i have been trying to come up with the songs i'd like to see done. here is what i have so far.

beach boys - heroes and villains
cars - moving in stereo
soundgarden - outshined
spearhead - hole in the bucket

i was thinking of a totally awesome song last night, and i wanted to write it down so i wouldn't forget it, but i didn't have anything to write on. so if i remember what it was, this list might change. or whatever.

also, a question: is it against the rules to trade with somebody else? because on some people's lists i am seeing songs that i would be dying to cover, and other people's lists that i would be totally unenthusiastic about... and i'd hate to do a crappy cover for somebody just because i don't care for any of the songs they picked

[edit: although i would certainly try my best to do a good job no matter what, because i would definitely hope that person would be happy with their song even if i personally didn't like it much :D ]

Yes, Voice, it would be against the rules BUT once the GoM is done, all other covers are up for grabs. HXARO!

I'm in this. I'll have to post my 4 picks later, though. It's nice to see so many participants.

Cool choices except for the Cameo. I love the song but it is currently one of the most played songs on rock radio...the Korn version, that is.

I think it's a great choice for exactly that reason. I'd like to see someone approach it from a more unique perspective than the popKorn one being forced upon us.

You are right Jim, it's a very straightforward version and it is being forced down people's throats. (That's Korn's record company's doing. Korn is leaving after this greatest hits album so they're milking it as much as they can. Gotta love Sony. Just ask Blue.) Gun's version is better and Flaming Fire's version is more inventive.

oh cool, i had no idea they did a cover.

i only picked it because I have fond memories doing it at a karaoke bar for my brother's bachelor party. and even fonder memories of wondering why Larry Blackmon had that red thing on his crotch.

"More Than This" was ALMOST my 4th song. Nice to see the Roxy represented!

And Glenn - Your Biz appreciation is just another reason that you kick the ass!

Thank you sir! The opinions of professional <a href="http://pfmmusic.com/pic11.jpg">shark riders</a> are highly regarded in my book.

I now have the hopes that there might eventually be a PrayforMojo version of "A thing named Kim". I think that might very well have the potential to be one of the best songfight moments ever.

DAMN IT! Now your <a href="http://pfmmusic.com/pfm-onmyblock.mp3">"On my block"</a> is stuck in my freeking head! How do you DO that?!?!!

ROCK!

that's a great one too. i probably could have gone deeper into their catalog, but I always liked this song (Siren is one of my favorite albums).

furthermore, due to the prevalence of other 'word up' covers, I'd like to change my 2nd choice to Cameo's "Shake Your Pants", instead.

Awww and I had just ordered my bright red codpiece :)

Love is the Drug is a fabulous song. One of the highlights of last year for me was 'Baby's on Fire' so it's good to see the art-school disco is being represented this year too.

I actually really like Grace Jones' version too.

I'd like to get in on this too, if it's not too late.
My four songs. Hm.

The Neighbors - Jonathan Richman (it's a duet)

Cor, Baby, That's Really Free! - John Otway

Come A Little Bit Closer - Jay & The Americans

and what the hell:
Town Called Malice - The Jam

It's from The Big Lebowski. It's the part where the Jesus and his bowling partner Liam are merely polishing their bowling balls.

On the Dumbrella board, I had Che Guevara in a Bart Simpson t-shirt for it seemed like forever, and I had this lying around as something different, so I figured what the hell.

Well I think it's cute.

O.k., so I hope it's alright if WreckdoM take part in this delightful sidefight, and if so here are our four songs presented most difficult to least difficult:

Squeeze Me Macaroni by Mr. Bungle
Tropical Hot Dog Night by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band
El Camino by Ween
Theme to Futurama by Christopher Tyng
