Nah, that was an "oops" on my part. I forgot to wipe the asterisk away from your name until almost two days after you sent your titles!

I'm just waiting on a decision from fluffy now. Assignments go out tomorrow!

All right! I've sent out title assignments. I'm pretty sure I got everyone, so please let me know if you don't have a PM from me today.

Songs are due on July 10th!

Oops, let the deadline slip by without making a decision as to whether I'm in or not, so I'm not. Oh well! My wrists can't handle it anyway.

Yes, it was sad to send out assignments without you on the roster, fluffy. I hope your wrists start feeling better!

Also, in case this matters to anyone... Some people, when submitting their titles, remarked that one or the other was the one they preferred. It was usually the first one listed. I didn't want these preferences on the part of the title submitter to influence the decision of the assignee, so I flipped the order of the titles in about half of the assignment PMs. In other words, you don't know which of the two titles you were assigned is the better-liked one by the person who suggested them.

Overall, I think it was a terrific batch of titles. As with previous years, kismet seems to favor us, as I felt that most of the assigned titles were pretty well suited to the assignee! And, as with last year, I will be disappointed not to hear songs for the titles that aren't chosen.

Unlike some previous years, there were none that made me cringe, or that made me feel as though I had to apologize to the person on the receiving end.

Thanks to everyone participating so far! I can't wait to hear these!

CoT rule 6.) states "Titles are then up for grabs for whoever wants extra credit. Also, there will be an opportunity to for others to step up and record songs for the "stiffees." - Why not apply this to the titles that aren't chosen, too? :)

How many of you are going to combine your two titles? I might be less inclined to do so if "everyone else is doing it" :-p (that's why we can't, Dolores).
Also I just realised the two I submitted could go together blaringly obviously :-/ and so I feel sheepish about that.
I know, I know, life doesn't always have to be about taking the complicated road. When I copped out and took it easy I (tied) won a dang challenge! 0.o

For the first four years of this side fight, I resisted the multiple title format and gave the participants only one title each. So last year was the first time we even had multiple titles to combine. I don't think anyone did it last year, though my memory might not be serving me perfectly.

I don't think it would be seen as a cliché to combine your titles, if that's how you wish to play it. I don't presume to speak for the person who submitted your titles, but you would have my blessing at least.

I had an idea that I think was too intense, emotospiritually and the fire last night steered me away from it. Now it seems I'm taking the low road and just using the second title and my submission will be late.
Good news is being sick over the last wknd means I should be all good for SFL.

Yesterday was the deadline, and unfortunately I do not yet have a reasonably recorded version of my song submitted. I promise not to be a stiffy, it will be in soon.

Mine's in, I'm really rather pleased with it (which is usually a bad sign for the future objective listener).

Dang, in my mind the deadline was on the 13th. I'll almost certainly be able to uphold that imaginary deadline, can't promise I'll be done before. Sorry!

For amusement or beratement for those on here, here's the message I just sent generic ... since msgs don't always leave my outbox on here :-/

"Bugger can't figure out where to send my halfassed efforts but here's this: ww w.dropbox.(youdidntreallythinkidincludetheactuallinkdidyou?)

One is a capella at bris airport coz I'm just flying out to Honolulu LA and NY tonight, and stupidly/experimentally recorded it within the memo app on my phone, wondering if it might turn it into an accessible sound recorder file. It didn't... anyway I aim to redo these within my feeble means once I'm at Hawaii for half a day tomorrow.

Mahala"

Edit: thanks for the info j$, that would explain it.
Also Honolulu airport had no free wifi pffft

FYI I'm fairly sure messages don't show as leaving the outbox until they're read by the receiver - so it's not they haven't been sent, just not seen yet ...

Hey folks!

I came down with bronchitis (which my son then caught... while cutting multiple teeth at once) last week, so I didn't get my song done either! Yay! In six years of doing this, I don't think I've been on time yet.

I did receive entries from Inflatable Vegetables, Micah Sommer, Enter it in the Art Show, j$, and PepperJane. Hopefully more are on the way. I'll strive to get the website up over the next few days. As usual, I don't plan on being a tyrant about the deadline, but anyone who doesn't have their entries to me by the time the site goes live will be named and shamed! (Including me, I guess.)

Post your entries and/or lyrics independently if you'd like. I'll keep you all posted.

Well, looks like my promise to send something in today was worth as much as the digital paper I wrote it on. Better luck next... day. Or something like that. We'll see.
