I listened to five or six songs of my victim.. erm, chosen artist. I had an idea for two songs right off the bat. Now I've gotta figure out how to learn/record/video everything while life keeps throwing me curveballs. In other words, I should start any time now.

Oh yeah a question! Are we sharing just video or the tracks as well? I.E. Do I have to mix down a video and an mp3 and upload them separately, or will the video audio suffice? Either way is fine.

My thought was that we would provide the video only, but I had briefly considered the question of whether or not an mp3 was also needed. Let's make the mp3s optional, but do not post them until after the video premiere on the 21st. I'll see if I can work with the fightmasters to get them into the sidefight archive: https://songfight.org/sidefights.php

If anyone has stronger feelings about it, please let me know.

I truly don't care, but it should probably be all or nothing if it may go into the archive. Who wants a partial archive?

I'd like to have an .mp3, if only because I'm way more likely to return to these submissions if there's an mp3. Videos are neat and all but we're all here for the tunes. :)

How should the videos be submitted? DropBox? Some other way?

Getting sick for a week does a number of you when it comes to fulfilling a deadline. To the person I'm covering, your video might just end up a compilation of clips from Rentaghost. Hope that's okay. (just kidding, maybe).

I’m still trying to figure out the treatment I want for my song but I captured a bunch of great footage on my way to the small-town tiny house I’m staying in for the next few days.

I finally started on my cover today. Looks like I'll have some time over the next few days. My concept may not be working as well as I hoped but I'll endeavor to persevere.

I actually had an idea for the video before starting recording and have the raw footage I need. I'll decide if I stick with that idea or not after the song is complete.

All that to say, after being behind for a week or more I'm finally on track.

Wow, I had recorded some performance footage just in case but my driving footage ended up lining up so perfectly with the song that I couldn't figure out how to add it in without detracting. So, I think I'm basically done. :)

Because experience has taught me that video takes a long time, and because I have a tendency to faff about with the music stuff so that it takes a far longer time than it actually should, I started on my video first and have a rough cut done. Yay! Now to do the music part then fine tune the video to fit...

Video's pretty much done, but I'm trying to put friends in the video, so I'm holding off on submitting a little longer so I can swap out some stock model footage for their takes. I'm really proud of how this is coming out.
I am definitely too square for how experimental this is, but I can imagine that if I was in the right state of mind, the section starting at 2:20 might transport me to another dimension - jeffhenderson

I have made zero progress in a week and I remain about 80% done...and just need to record my vocal performance. Looking forward to seeing everyone's videos!

Just exported an mp4. Not sure if this will be the final version, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got!

And yes, that is the end of the USS Enterprise's Nacelle without the rotating top for the color effects. Because I'm just that damn nerdy to have it.

My computer won't process hour plus long files even if just to cut the darn things down. So I went with idea number two. Video is uploading now.
