Thanks for putting this together Niveous! Really enjoyed listening in bed this morning, good start to the day.

Particularly enjoyed the HPH Basket Case, the cat cameo on the super-cute sockpuppet cover and Micah somehow creating gold out of an Idles song (I hate Idles, sorry). Excellent take on the Magnetic Fields for my gift, noisy but with that sweet melody coming through - thanks to Phlebia!

Sadly, the cat was stock audio. Fiona kept on meowing at me while I was making the song but as soon as I actually wanted to record her she clammed right up. Cats, what is their deal?

But yeah all of the submitted songs are so good! Can't wait to hear the rest of them.

Haha that sounds about right. One of my cats makes an unplanned cameo on my entry for the next fight, they can open the studio door now so I'm just going to embrace it I guess.

By my count we're waiting for another four songs? Hoping we get them all!

Ha, two generations of cats have intruded in my SF songs: Night Terrors had my late cat Tobias and Pocket Full of Bones has a cameo from Juneau. It's only my tabbies that meow while I'm recording...

I’ve had a long, tiring, expensive day (broken garage door, cat health issue) so I didn’t have the energy to write more right now, hopefully will soon. I thought all the covers were great!

@Niv: glad you liked the Thrice cover! I didn’t know the song before, glad I do now.

@rackwagon: thank you so much, I LOVE it! Super different and very up my alley (different alley than the original). The spoken word choruses work so well and I love the layers of guitars.

@owl: thanks! The chorus was giving us real trouble until Gizo came up with the spoken part (because I’ve lost the ability to sing). And the guitars are just ripping off Television. Want to make better guitar tracks? Buy Marquee Moon and STEAL EVERY IDEA.

Oh, and the singing on your track is excellent. Damn you.

Thanks, owl. So glad you liked it.

Huge kudos to Toshiro for the guitars and overall dynamics. He took a single synth idea and gave it movement, and then by golly those guitars, eh!?

I am away at the beach so I haven’t been able to listen to anything yet, but I’m excited to hear you all.

What sort of wallaby is that? Weird looking thing.

BTW - I noticed you had "Recovery" by New Buffalo as one of your choices. A big favourite of mine. It appears no one has covered it. Maybe one day I will surprise you with one. Great song.

At the risk of heading further into The Homesickness, here's our local Swamp Wallabies from 2015. Aka the Swallabies.

I just learned these wallabies are famously smelly, constantly pregnant through their entire adult lives, and have been documented eating carrion, wow!

We get deer pretty often around here, but I would love to see wild wallabies.

Also, Television is an excellent band to steal from.

I've surely made better sounding recordings, but this is as close to done as I'm gonna get and my giftee has waited long enough.

Albatross covers "Brown Shoes" from Sing Street (for Crumpart)

BYD should have our song in soon. I'll do a listening party for the GOM with whatever SongFight challenge is happening at the same time.

Since Nov hasn't updated with the previous late entry, mind posting it somewhere where we can hear it in the meantime?
