Halloween Audio Project

Post by KatyaOddio »

Calling All Fiends!

There is a new Halloween project brewing at Oddio Overplay. The old one was silly, so this year's is creepy and scary. If you have a creepy tune, ghost story or scary artwork, come join the fun!

The 2006 Halloween audio-visual project at OddioOverplay.com runs from September 1, 2006 to October 20, 2006. Original songs, ghost stories and artwork will be compiled into a free-to-download digital release complete with CD, CD package art and booklet, like those at ComfortStand.com and WMRecordings.com.

The final free downloadable release of original music and ghost stories will launch October 22, 2006, and will be hosted at both Oddio Overplay and the Internet Archive. There may be mixed licensing based on musical and visual artists' preferences.

Boogity! Boogity!

Yours,
Katya Oddio

Perhaps this should be in the SideFights...

If you don't know Katya, she's awesome and Oddio Overplay is one of the best aggregators of indie net labels and artists. So don't bust her for "spamming" SF.

This is indeed a fun invite. LET'S ROCK THE PUMPKIN!

Oops. Sorry about the posting in the wrong place. I'm a longtime Song Fight fan and promoter, but brand new to the forums. Thanks for the kind words, Roymond. I hoped posting in the forums would catch the eyes of at least some of my favorite artists here - like YOU!

Well, I've been told that my Too Goth To Rock would work on a Halloween compilation, and you're welcome to use it if you'd like...

Too Goth to Rock

"Too Goth to Rock" is fun! We are shooting for dark, scary and creepy this year. Maybe we could also do a fun release. Hmmmm. You've got me thinking, King Arthur. Thank you so much! You rock!

my song "ps i love you" has been described as "necrolicious"

might not be appropriate, although it's certainly undeniably creepy. :)

Are instrumentals as well as vocal songs allowed?
I'm sure I can do dark and creepy - I think it said "new songs" requested, or was that my imagination?

It would seem to me that there may be a few Zombie Sons around that might fit the bill. Perhaps this is a good excuse for us to finally record a studio version...

I would actually recommend the Primitive Screwheads <a href="http://www.songfight.org/music/pasty_wh ... p3">"Pasty White Man"</a> as it pretty much fits the bill too.

It is quite possibly the best song about the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

ROCK!

This is not a Songfight project, so posting suggestions here isn't very useful. If it's your song, then go through the submission process to Oddio Overplay.

Bill, instrumentals are great. You can hear samples of a couple instros submitted already on the <a href="http://friends.oddiooverplay.com/fiends/status.html" target="_blank">status page</a>.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, everyone! They seem pretty upbeat for our ghoulish intentions. Lyrically they are super twisted -- yay! I love Song Fight. You always bring me smiles.

Thank you for all the input. This is such a great community.

Gratefully Yours,
katya

Since I bet Katya is sleeping, I'll post the launch announcement for Calling All Fiends, which I'm psyched about!

Inside you'll find X-Tokyo-River-God and a new roymond song for the release, creeping out the place...

Hey Bill, send me the mp3 and I'll 'release' it as a 'double-sided single' on my website for Halloween, do some pretty artwork, that sorta thing...

Hey thanks for the tunes,

it inspired me to do something special for Halloween.
at first i was thinking of just burning that playlist to a CD and playing it outside during Halloween night,
but then i got some crazy ideas using a spare strobe light, 3 color changing rope lights, and a spy cam, i have laying around, for a complete
Audio/visual effect when kids come trick-o-treating at my house next week.
Hopefully i can follow through with the project this weekend, and set it up the way i have it pictured in my head.

props to Roy and Niv for 2 cool songs.

It's an old SF tune. And it's not just my tune. It would be nothing if not for Anti-M and Noah MacLaughlin.

In the spirit of Halloween, I decided to check through my Heuristics Inc./etc. song archive and see what kind of scary album I could make with my songs. Thought there were probably a few that fit that bill... Here's a soundtrack you can try out for Trick-or-Treating time or whatever you're doing this year:
HInc Halloween Special m3u link, or mp3s:
1. John Ingram vs. Heuristics Inc. - anemone (Nematocyst Mix)
2. ....Living in the Basement
3. Veiled Malice
4. 100% safe
5. The Kraken Retreats
6. Tripping on the Cygnus Loop
7. Roots Exposed
8. Anzio Intro
9. Eyelash Viper
10. Cobalt
11. On Caradhras
12. our prime concern
13. Where the Shadows Lie
14. Living in Photographs - Love (Hinc remix)
15. Be careful
16. winterdistant
17. Berchtesgaden
18. Skidways
19. In the Lair of the Zombie Kittens

Hope you like it!
